Local talent going elsewhere is similar to BC hoops not getting local blue chippers.
And yet the Revs are in the conference final...

It’s clear listening to the posters here that they are so focused on high school-aged soccer that they don’t understand how pro teams work. There is no requirement that all local talent is scooped up by the local pro franchise. It doesn’t happen in baseball, football, basketball, etc. so why expect it in soccer? If talent goes elsewhere maybe it’s because it’s a better fit for that player and pro club. Maybe they need someone for a specific position or skill set. It’s not a reflection that the local pro club is bad. Conversely, maybe the Revs can’t find the talent they need locally and search nationally like every other team.

One poster tried to make the correlation between money spent and quality, and again it shows a lack of understanding of how pro teams work. The market dictates what you can afford. So if a NYC, LA, or Houston team where there is a local market potential of millions of fans spends more than Revs where the market is far smaller, that’s economics and not an indicator the team is being cheap or is less committed.

Long story short, it would be really rare for homegrowns to make up the entire roster of a pro team, whether it’s the first, second, or academy team. Most clubs only have a few and that’s the same for the Revs.

This particular player had no other choice but to leave. The Revs Academy didn't want him.

Taking one outlier year, in a pandemic, as evidence that the Revs are even close to a well run organization is pretty silly. They aren't and they never have been.

Really. New coach, new players (at least the ones with talent), and a level playing field like the pandemic = business as usual? Hold onto 2015.

What do USL players get paid?

And you know that because you and he are best buds and he shares all his thoughts and plans with you?

Arena turned the Revs around immediately with the same players. He’s a great coach.

This is a thread about the Academy team, we are solely focused on the high school aged soccer here. Why are you banging on about the Pro team?

Even more evidence that the Academy has no idea what they are doing! They didn't want this player but now the organization has signed him to the USL team? classic

Who cares? The Revs are without question the worst MLS academy in the league by any measure. They can't get players into the first team, they can't get them into college, and they can't even keep them from playing at Bolts.

Actually, he couldn't crack the starting 11.

You mean the ones who were just cut from the USL roster?

I mean he couldn’t carry EJ’s jock at the time when he came to the Revs Academy on bended knee.

Sure buddy, that’s why Atlanta scooped him up and then Revs!

So Atlanta unscooped him? Seems about right.
