I am new to this thread, but having read a good number of the posts I think the central message is that Bryan Scales the Academy Director is a total c*nt. Is that right?

So which clubs exactly are going to be in the Revs conference next year? Montreal, both NY teams, Philly, maybe DC? That's five very strong clubs and a LOT of travel. I have a feeling that after playing these five clubs over and over next year (with some age groups getting crushed match after match), the Revs will be begging to go back to playing non-MLS DA clubs.

Look at the 2019 Revs class. It’s obvious from their social media that the Revs have completely flipped their focus to the pro pathway. There is ZERO social media about college commitments. Flying in Kraft’s plane to other MLS Academies? Check. Training and traveling with the First Team? Check. Homegrown player propaganda? Check, check, check and check!

College placement is no longer their concern. They want players not students. I appreciate their honesty. The scouts will continue to bring in players with no aspirations of matriculating at institutions of higher learning.

College coaches have been watching the metamorphosis for years. Coaches now realize the recruitable player pool per graduating class is dwindling precipitously in Foxborough. NCAA Soccer recruiting budgets are limited. It is no longer worth coaches’ time and money to attend Revs matches.

The continued defection to Prep Schools will accelerate.

Don't sign if your kid has even a remote chance/aspiration of playing abroad. One thing American kids have right now over European academy trained kids of similar skill is that they are free. Once clubs have to start paying for Americans, they'll be passed over for more convenient options.
