Too bad this is an anonymous forum, I'd gladly take your money.

Now that the MLS plans to get out of DA what are we all going to do? We'll never see our kids play anymore if they're flying to Dallas or L.A.

While I think that's disturbing unless you are one of their parents, or relative; at the same time think maybe take a same snapshot of the other local DA U13 clubs as well. That way in a few years you can actually compare "apples to apples".

lol if you think the Revs are going to continue with DA if they have a way out you must have a 75 IQ.

I doubt that MLS leaves DA. It makes more sense to add tiers and schedule more MLS matchups but keep local games so that the travel is not untenable. Add another showcase for each age group with just MLS teams, and allow international play.

Why should they stay? The costs and manpower don't justify the rewards.

If your kid wanted to play highschool soccer why on earth would you choose to play DA over ECNL? You can get to college just as well through ECNL as through DA. It's a silly distinction.

It's all about level. Top college teams have virtually no non DA players - it's all DA + international players. Lower level then yes you have many more options with ECNL, NPL etc. If that's your target do whatever option fits you and has the best training. The Revs track record with "top" programs is shoddy at best while other MLS clubs produce some of the best talent in the country.

Does it cost less for MLS to run their own league? I don't see how travelling more to play MLS teams will be a net savings. I don't see MLS dropping their youth teams league wide, despite speculation that some teams would be happy to get out of the youth development game.

I think they drop the majority of players and focus on the top 20 across all ages. That can be managed. That's all they care about anyway and it's all USSF cares about too. Why should they foot the bill for the vast majority that only care about/can only reach college level?

We are talking about MLS, not USSF. The push to leave DA is from teams like LA Galaxy that are frustrated at the lack of competition.

Are you saying top 20 players or top 20 teams?

Each MLS club has it's own team of 18-20 players with some kind of balancing for age. It's just an idea in my head that I thought makes some sense for the clubs. They get almost nothing out of BDA but spend a great deal. Clearly clubs like the Revs wish they were never involved at all. If they then could get better $ from those they developed (like international clubs do) they would have a huge incentive to develop talent that they could later profit off of if they don't keep them. MLS clubs now have to train around 100 kids and almost none will ever be pro material.

The Revs are currently working on a graceful exit from DA. Hopefully your kids will graduate like mine does in 2019.
