The truth doesn't hurt. Good luck on your voyage.

This is only partially true. He was at GPS from U9 to U15. Only came to the bolts because it was academy and he didn't make the revs.

And GPS couldn’t get him where he wanted to be. Good for him for recognizing that. Smart kid.

This kids dad must be on a lot. I’ve never seen so much discussion about a kid who doesn’t make most people’s radar.

I hope he continues his good form. One good season does not make a top player.
Little does he know, he won't play at Michigan. Not good enough. Right, one season does not make a player. Where the hell was he before this year? Who is this kid? I've seen him play once and all he has is a little speed. No technical ability at all.

A public school track kid who's had some marginal success at running fast does not translate to being a complete soccer player. Nothing there.

Some players won't settle for anything less than playing professionally, good or bad, successful or not. I was just trying to convince a player not to accept a spot at a lousy D1 school just because he's been obsessed with playing D1 forever. His other options are much better academically but he won't listen. All I can do is advise but ultimately it's his/his family's call. Anyway, college will always be there and there's no rule you have to graduate by the age of 22. It's that family's choice, not yours or any one else's. We all make choices that others might not understand. The obsession on this board about them is bizarre enough ,but some outright hope the kids fail. That's downright sad.

No college coach in the country that's worth any salt would give a player with one season of prolific scoring a full ride soccer scholarship. That is what you call an anomaly. Coaches want to see a youth soccer resume playing at the highest levels from the age of 13/14 on. This guy, whoever he is, is no way he's getting a full boat at 9.9 shared scholarships per team. They want to see NTC call ups, playing up in age and sustained play in the DA from a young age. Starting eleven and playing significant minutes for years.

Virtually no male players get full rides; they're considered lucky to get a half ride. On the men's side it really is about just getting on to a decent roster, not the money, because the money just isn't there.

Full rides for males are more common than you think. Only top players who are difference makers, be it internationals or domestics get them frequently. Not as public as their female counterparts, mainly because of Title IX. Schools want everyone to know they are doing their part for the super gender.

Urban myth. I've been involved in men's college soccer for years and full scholly's are doled out pretty frequently. Mix of need and merit based aid, ultimately translating in to a full boat. Top players pretty much write their own tickets.

That is not a full ATHLETIC ride. Big and important difference. If it's a fully funded program a coach only has 9.9 scholarships to divvy up across 24+ players. Many won't get more than a token; a hot GK might get close to a full. It's basic math. FA also gets altered depending on the rest of the package and only applies to certain economic criteria that's pretty standard, athletics or not. Merit $ is the only place where there might be more flexibility from the school. Neither FA or merit is decided by the coach, but they will try to push for appealing packages for players they really want.

Ok, well written, concise definition. Male soccer players get full scholarships every year, across this great country of ours in the NCAA. I suspect your son is a GK.

Daley has 8 internationals, a couple of New England Prep school players and among them, two Montreal Impact Academy players on his Michigan roster. If this Bolts kid thinks he's going to crack that lineup, he's delusional. Won't see a minute.
