Even if they are going to play in college but are still curious they should try - but I prefer to live life with no regrets. Show the college coach you are still playing high level club, have a work out and training plan etc. Coaches know not all DA clubs are that great.

My son was advised to play at the highest possible level by his coach. "High level club" was not going to cut it. Regret is exactly what your child may be courting.

The best DA players are in Texas and CA.

            Don't discount NY.
Both clubs are excellent and as good as any other

And high level club isn't exactly high level.

My kid trained with a top level Spanish academy this summer and the players were at a similar level to the top Revs kids. Nice to know he can continue to thrive at the Revs.

Have they cut your kid yet for training outside the program?

How do players set up training stints in abroad over the summer? Is it invite only, or through Revs coaches, or are opportunities readily available as long as you can pay the fee? Have an incoming U12 DAP player at an alliance club who may want to do something like this in a few years.

The next kid who 'thrives' at the Revs will be the first.

I know this post is largely knee jerk hate on the Revs but there is an example that points to the fact that it is largely true.

                        Diego Fagundez.

He came in as a fad 17 year old but has gotten better every year and the climb only continues. But I would guess this has to do with a hard work etihc and God given skill and very little to do with the Revs. They have no other player one could point to and say, "Lok how our program has developed this player into a real gem of a player". They have no one.

I would compare the physical and mental ability of Fagundez with Pulisic and say they are largely similar but the fact that Pulisic's dad was able to get him to Germany while Fagundez was stuck in Foxboro is where the primary difference lies.

Not sure you noticed the huge leap in Diego's game after coming home from training and playing matches with the Uruguayan U20s. Really some great potential there, but, unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the Revs coaching and training that is unlocking it. For Diego's sake, I hope he continues to get opportunities to train in Uruguay. I'd love to see him play after making a few more jumps like that last one.

As was previously noted, Scales is clueless

Odds are he won't be there in a few years. Not being snarky, just stating facts. And unless Revs management changes they will discourage participation in anything outside the Revs, even in the official off season, and possibly kick your kid out. They definitely won't help you find something. Also facts.

Does Scales know? EU players start to differentiate about age 13 and 14, depending on country, from US because that's when they get serious about training. At the Revs, 4 hrs per week ain't going to make anyone better. Your kid may 'thrive' in Revs fashion and get an 'opportunity' but he'll never develop even close to a EU academy player.
