Great school and they both got little or no playing time. And they are very strong players. It's tough to play at the top schools. I'm sure they had many other offers that they both turned down.

So why do it then? To get near zero playing time just to say you played for UVA?! Or to get an average (arguably less than average education) playing for Michigan state or Louisville or Charlotte ( while getting little or no playing time) ! Does not make an ounce of sense to me.

to coin an 80s phrase ... Where's the beef?

Chill out Dude. I don't think there are many players that can walk on to the field as freshman and get regular playing time a big D1 schools.

Who cares about soccer rankings - all I care about is academics.

Revs did have two placed at UVA - good soccer and academics. Those are probably the best overall.

Very few freshmen will play out of the gate at a top program. Or maybe they cared more about the school and were willing to take a chance with the soccer. Sometimes those types of tradeoffs have to be made.

They didn't play because the coach planned to redshirt them all along.

The same stuff is taught at Michigan State as at Harvard. The students are just smarter at Harvard.

And the same stuff is taught at the Revs and the Bolts, the players are just better at the Revs. Peer group makes all the difference.

                      that's an extreme oversimplification.

...and the U16 Bolts beat the revs U16 last time I checked.

mindless drivel: revs better than bolts no bolts better than revs no revs better than bolts blah blah blah.

in the end it really doesn't matter does it? Ultimately your kid if he's good, will place in the appropriate team and hopefully (more importantly) in a good academic school.

Show me a high D1 AND decent academic school and NOW you're talking !!

=>Stanford , wake forest , notre dame ... I'll even take Maryland , Clemson and UW!!
if your kids goal is to go pro, top d1 schools will give him much more exposure than mid to bottom D1

If your kid wants to "go pro" as a soccer player, apparently you have failed him as a parent. So why stop now? Skipping college and moving to Europe is what he should do. And you should encourage it.

So are the professors. Using the same textbooks doesn't mean they receive the same education
