This is actually good for the majority of the current U12 DA players. They will have the chance to play as a single stronger team next year at their own clubs, rather than split into two weaker teams as they are this year, and see how it goes before having to make the decision to sign away their rights to the Revs. Players who aren't interested in making that move have another year before a few of their best teammates with over-eager parents get caught in the trap.

"Arena, like Friedel and Burns before him, said investor/operators Robert Kraft and Jonathan Kraft would provide the financial resources to improve the team. Arena said he will be “smart” about spending on player salaries, though the goal is to make the team “much more competitive and ultimately, one day, win an MLS Cup.”
So they start out claiming they will get the financial support from Krafts - but then the entire next paragraph is Arena talking about how frugal he can be and doesn't need to spend money.
Which is why at first was feeling optimistic until I read this. The Revs and the Academy won't change until Krafts decide to invest in it - and they really don't have to. Whoever pointed out that a) combining Burns/Friedel jobs is cost cutting and B) we may never see a stadium bc the only goal is to cut costs on Foxborough might be right.
And while everyone is hot to trot to point out the 35m training facility its still about half the investment other clubs are making.
The good news is the abject failure of the Revs strengthens the Pro/Relegation movement that seems to be taking hold.
Hope to see changes at the Academy but not holding my breath.
