LOL. I want to go pro too. I'm 55. Where do I sign up?

A tiny fraction. It the wrong system for what US soccer needs, and even then, in this country the focus on education isn't one that is going to go away. They need to adapt to what we have here, or change the system altogether and let other venues work for the players without the skills or aspirations to go pro.
This is what happens at the Revs Academy. If they're afraid of the top players leaving, then lock 'em up. The NCAA will not help development. The MLS has just allocated more TAM for homegrowns, make some moves you cheap pathetic bastards. Or sell the club to owners who care about the fan base and the young players.

Your position is that he shouldn't play for the Revs because he wants to go into Finance instead of the MLS? Again, the Revs chose him. They didn't choose someone else.
If it were up to USSF your son wouldn't be in the system. But they designed the system, which requires thousands of players to make it work. It's literally impossible to fill all the rosters in BDA, and soon GDA, with players who are aligned with the goals of USSF. So they have to take who tries out/gets scouted and is willing to play for DA teams, regardless of what their personal goals may be. Even better if they get to do it for free - it makes giving up HS sports a little more tolerable

(not the poster btw. mine is similar in that he's in DA for college, not because he wants to play professionally)

Absolutely sad that anonymous Revs parents notified Will Parchman and blowing this up when the rules are crystal clear and everyone signs off on it from the outset of the boys involvement with an MLS Academy. A non story.

"Non story"? Kicked out of the system for seeking opportunities? The real issue here is player compensation. MLS needs to deal with this asap. Things are getting out of hand.

Hahaha! This is not Revs parents leaking the story to Parchman. The leaks came from Revs coaches who are fed up with Kraft's non commitment to the soccer club. They want Rennicks signed to a Homegrown salary and put out there on the field but Jonathan Kraft wants nothing to do with it.

Brian Ainscough is swooping in for the crumbs as we speak. Will grab Rennicks for the Spring season and will take all the player's development credit when Rennicks goes pro. Watch for Rennicks with a Bolts jersey this Spring.

I hear players have been suspended form the U16 team as well. Great stuff happening in Foxboro. That outfit is run by morons.

What I'm unclear on is this: what if the trial with Frankfurt went well and they offer him a contract in three weeks when he turns 18?

Are the Revs entitled to any compensation, or do they let their best prospect walk?

Put out on the field? You mean like Herivaux? The kid hasn't seen one MLS minute.

Nope, no compensation. The "solidarity" player compensation issue has gone to FIFA courts. Born out of the Yedlin case. The real problem here is the New England Revolution's unwillingness to sign players to homegrown contracts. Indiana is not going to help Rennicks develop into a pro player. Ages 18-21 some very critical years in soccer development.

Not just Indiana. Akron, Notre Dame, UCLA or any other ridiculous NCAA soccer program. They're dinosaurs. MLS better monitor those showcases very closely ,they're crawling with European scouts, some licensed, other not so much. All looking for the next Pulisic or Perez. Immediate American branding boost for the club. All about $$$.Why do you think Schalke is looting American players? Free players and a huge pot of gold awaiting them if they pan out.

This all very foreign to the American professional landscape.MLS and US Soccer are reeling. The other major sports do not deal with this. Americans and the USSF outed FIFA's corruption and this is a bit of a pay back. The Trump affect doesn't help. Professional soccer is nothing to sneeze at from a global standpoint. Lots of $$$ being thrown around.
This is not the NBA, MLB, NHL or NFL.

Would you put off your education and full ride to Indiana for a paltry $60,000 rookie MLS salary? just saying.

Frankfurt will give him $300,000 for his first year. A cup of coffee for a German club.
