Finally, please remember that US Soccer DA regulations prohibit players from playing in outside competitions during the DA season (this includes winter break). Understanding that a number of our players like to play with friends during the break, any local indoor soccer and futsal opportunities should be of an informal nature (no regional or national culminating event). We do expect the players to rest, recover and take a break from a demanding Fall season in preparation for an equally demanding spring season that stretches into late June/July. Please feel free to contact me with any questions on this.

Why would you ask permission? I assume that parents asked earlier than when this email went out so some received permission, others didn't, and then this goes out.
He basically gave consent there - "should be of an informal nature". That's very open to interpretation. Had he said something like players are allowed pickup games with friends or teammates (which really should be encouraged) but are not allowed anything organized with coaching, practices and game schedules" then it would be clear.

Are you illterate or just playing dope to cover for your kid breaking the rules?

"no regional or national culminating event" i.e. Hannover is a not permitted.

That's how I interpreted the email too. But it is permitted for some players. There is a Revs connection with Explosion (the goalie coach), so maybe Explosion players will always be given special treatment.

This really stinks. Futsal is one important way to improve 1v1 and response. Excluding one set from playing while allowing these kids to play is unfair.
Are these kids getting ahead/ rewarded / start time/ playing time? If one is on the NT and does it, they absolutely need to shut this down or let all do it.

It really does go against the Kraft/BB philosophy of treating players fairly and equally. Also sends a very confusing message to the players: "Go by our rules or else! Well sort of, some of you, sometimes! ..."

I don't know enough about Hanover specifically to say. I was just thinking about futsal programs my kids have done that were organized (practices, coaches and schedules) but no playoffs or real travel. No need to be a TS dbag and jump down my throat.

The Revs (and several chest thumping clubs) still don't get futsal and it's development abilities. They think it's like playing basketball or tennis so don't worry about the effects either bad training has (which is what they dole out) or the benefits to kids pursuing contrary to direction such as with the black knights and the Brazilian squad. A 10 month season should mean 10 months of training. As of now it's 9 months with 3 day/week practices (4.5 hrs/week = 180hrs / year).

Forces determined players to look elsewhere for additional training. Maybe that's a good thing for those players.

Yeah well unfortunately it is a fact of life that sometimes life isn't fair, sometimes people break the rules, sometimes certain people are treated differently. Tough lesson for kids but they'll learn it regardless at some point. It's important that you talk with them about it and instill the values you want, whatever those may be.

Friends with older kids always told me that as exhausting as the early years are with their energy and keeping them safe and running around, it's when they get older parenting get s much tougher. Big kids = big problems.

It's more like 8 months - plus the U13 season officially ends in May!

Yes the Revs take their winter rest time very seriously. Toss in the frequent practice cancellations and some bad weather and the total hours drop even lower

Looks like the U13 wasn't thought out. 8 months and 1/2 of them will be gone next year with the combined '02 team. No wonder so many of them are packing in the training over vaca.

                              But not with futsal- obviously!

This whole Academy thing sounds pretty crappy. Glad we opted out.
