That is a very good thing for the Academy.

Many, many parents won’t be happy.
They better get right on that then. It's basically May now. Let people know ASAP you won't have a spot so they can find another. Start scouting asap for others you want to bring in.

You can’t be serious? You think they will give families advance notice now? Every Revs parent should be reaching out to other clubs immediately. Get your players to other club practices. If you don’t have a real contingency plan your Revs player could be odd man out come July.

Follow the general rule - if you're a consistent starter, get loads of PT you're probably ok. Everyone else will be considered a bubble player.

No Joke. I’ve seen them tell 14 yr olds the day after the season ended in June that they no longer had a spot.

Scales should have been fired years ago. The day he put his town soccer kid on the academy team should have been his last day as the proof of his corruption would have been self-evident the moment anyone with soccer knowledge saw his son play. Anyway I’m happy for the Revs that they finally made the decision. Let’s hope the new guy is not corrupt.

He crushed a lot of kids along the way

Yeah I hope those kids are ok and were able to regain their self confidence. Scales should never have been hired. His record at Cornell alone should have made him a non-starter for the job. He set the Revs development academy back decades.

Enough with the Scales. Been gone. let's focus on future. Maybe your kids will make team now.

So many kids turn them down these days.

It will be interesting to see if the players turning them down will now accept offers from them now and gamble that with Scales gone, things will be better. Tough to know what to do if you are an elite player. Do you just go to the Revs now assuming it’s going to become a legit academy?

your assuming those players are offered a slot. how many go if it is only a Residential Academy. Then what, this thread continues with " my kid got offered but we decided his public school education is better". then thread goes on how REVS are doing a disservice to all those "talented" kids in great school systems.

                          Residential academy?

Their first invite left quickly after less than a month to go back to Empire United. He committed to Syracuse not long after. Smart kid.

Their second invite bailed for a private school and plays for FSA in CT.

Do you really want to entrust your child’s housing and education to this organization?

That whole set up was a joke too. Relying on other families to house, feed, transport your kid around, make sure they get their work done?

If they wanted to do something that would entice good players they'd set up an arrangement with a prep school. Good education, reliable supervision and housing. They could only do it with 1-3 players max, but prep schools already give great deals to top players.

It won’t take long for the bs to start with the new director. It’ll be the same old desperate nonsense from rejected or jealous kids and parents - just cut and paste Becerra in place of Scales in all the old messages.

The reality is that the Revs are looking for potential first team players, not half decent kids who look good in the ISL. It’s easy to forget that. There isn’t a single prep school kid with Revs connections that fits that profile, at least not that I can think of. It’s all subjective, I know. Not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings. Serious;y, if the Revs thought that a prep school kid was the real deal, they’d be all over him. Maybe some of the RTD kids might some day. A couple have tried out in the past. I don’t know enough about that program to know whether that’s feasible, given that the primary goal is college. My kid has been with the Revs for a while. You have to fight for your minutes like at any other club. Some kids get more time than others, like any other club. The coaches want to teach the kids to learn how to win, without excessively focusing on winning themselves, which can get in the way of development. I like that to be honest. I don’t care about the result of any game these days, which is good for my health. I’ve really enjoyed it. My kid is really enjoying it. What’s not to like? A happy kid. I haven’t had any problems with any of the coaches. They’ve all been good people and really good for my kid. He’s becoming an excellent player. Parents are just like at any other club, mostly really nice people, with one or two loudmouths. I’ll let you know when he turns pro. Ps. I won’t be on here slamming the Revs if he cuts cut one day. It’s been a positive experience. Soccer is a brutal business. Anything can happen, and it’ll not always seem fair. That’s the business.
