You people are all delusional. Many of your kids will not make it beyond the first year with the Revs. They churn through players at the younger ages and this churn will be even worse with all the extra players in the system. I speak from experience. If your son is not starting and playing, the experience will be long and painful. It is not all roses with the Revs but unfortunately it is the best option available in this area. Before all of you line up and say that I am bitter, my son did play and start. However, there were many others that I saw that should have started / played and did not for whatever reason. The coaches will identify and stick with a couple players regardless of what anyone else thinks.

It will be interesting to see just how many of the U13 revs starting this year will make it all the way through the program to U18. If most of them do, then you can probably say that the Revs have a strong development program. If there are only a couple left at the end, it means that this group has mostly been replaced by kids from clubs providing better development, but who want the exposure that the Revs offer as they look to move on to college. As another poster mentioned, it's very possible that a kid who tried, but didn't make the U13 team this year ends up developing faster at another club and then at the U16 or U18 level replaces one of the kids who did make it.

That said, the above is also correct - there's a lot of churn and not much development going on. However it isn't just the Revs. It's the nature of the beast - wins still matter to DA clubs, even if just for coach egos. They matter even more to non MLS clubs because they are pay to play and are 2nd choice to free MLS clubs. And really what is the incentive for clubs to "develop" players? This isn't a European system where there's a potential big payoff if a player turns into a true professional. The vast majority of players only care about college anyway.

You must be his dad. Good luck with the Revs - you're going to need it with that di** attitude.

If may kid is fortunate I would rather have him in that environment where he can measure himself again some of the best in our region. I would hate to move him to a less skillful team where he is the #1 player on the team. That does not help him in his development. Sink or swim.... Harsh but that is the reality in the real world.
