At the 18s level no games are easy and when it comes to this MLS derby the boys always have risen to the occasion. Congratulations Revs. Keep it going.

      13/14 learning
      15/16 changing
      17/18 winning.

At U18, it gets you college and pro scout attention, and the Academy gets recognition. The lower ages, are developmental and transitional.

Most of the recruiting by top D1 programs in DAP is done at U16. Being on a winning team doesn't hurt, but coaches are more concerned with finding quality players than they are with finding players on winning teams.

Yes recruiting is about individual players, not teams. Being on an MLS team has additional cache to it. Being in DA in general is a hurdle to get the attention of coaches. After that a player has to demonstrate their ability, winning team or not.

That is why the U13 team is a mistake. Those kids look like dirty, wet rags out there.

Couple that with the obvious fact that they have already chosen who will develop and who won't by U16, none of the players will get noticed because a) No one will improve; b) any decent teammates will be gone and everyone will look like wet rags.

You would like to think, when the u-13's turn 18, the group will be something special after 5 or 6 Seasons.

Why would you think that? In 5 seasons only a few of the 2003s will still be on the Revs, a much shorter roster with 2004s and 2005s playing signficant time. The boys good enough to play up now will succeed, the rest don't matter. The Revs model will not change.

The 2004 playing up scored all kinds of goals in the beginning of season. Not anymore, struggling a lot. Is this fair to him? Is he not getting better?

But, I am sure that all the 2003 and 2002 players have played up most of their time before Revs. Weird system.

You're assuming the majority of the rostered players will still be around. They won't be. They'll either be shown the door or figure it out on their own. Roster churn is very high at the Revs and they love picking up older players that were developed elsewhere. That's why many would recommend waiting to put your kid into that system until at least U14-15 (assuming they're at a good club and still developing).

Wait until the last possible minute to do it if at all.

Didn't make that assumption at all. Kids need to earn their way through the program. Remember the program is fully funded and staying is earned year after year the way it should be.

How do you earn it if you are not playing during games? Kiss someone's arse?

Hard work at practice with a positive attitude goes a long way but you already knew that right?
