the serious players will play somewhere somehow regardless of the us training curriculum but so many lost opportunities to get it right now

And that it will make US soccer better. LMAO

the usmnt is not good so they seem to be trying to improve early identification with U12DAP and U13 teams
but they may be getting into the system too early if the training is below par
also the small kids may be big kids and the big kids may be small as adults
maybe they should have the parents line up before they choose favorites LOL

I would not extrapolate what the Revs do across all DA or even MLS programs. Existing and new MLS clubs have attracted significant investment in terms of dollars, soccer-specific stadiums and coaching staff (more recently Tata (!), Viera, Ernie Stewart). Several MLS clubs invest in residential academies and FC Dallas winning U16 and U18 championships two years running would seem to indicate they're doing something more than benefiting from an abundance of local talent.
There are many bright spots for MLS and US Soccer. Just not here in New England at this point. The NE region might lack talent. Or the Revs might not identify the right players. Or maybe they can't develop them properly. Or a combination of all three. But everything starts from the top and if the Krafts don't make the Revs a priority I doubt there's a Moneyball way for the Revs to compete successfully at any level. They had a nice couple years but that pre-dates the recent influx of investment (MLS has gotten more competitive) and they had Jones (coincidence that CO Rapids are contending for Supporters' Shield?) and maybe a lucky hot streak through the playoffs. Not exactly something repeatable.

RSL are spending $50-75 million to build facility/academy in Utah. Atlanta, Minnesota building stadiums/facilities and even Crew talking about a new stadium. It's all kind of moot because just like Klinsmann said Pulisic wouldn't have gotten a start in MLS, I'm not sure Heaps would recognize home grown talent. He comes from the college model and that's what he knows best.
That's not to say that a residential academy is the best for everyone and for every club. Just that the stakes are higher and Krafts aren't likely to ante up. But if they're paying attention to NFL ratings now might be a good time to hedge.

Revs only care about a certain small number of players. However, none of the players can get extra training elsewhere. Therefore, they are suppressing the development of the majority of players. Otherwise, it would seem that they would be happy for players to get training elsewhere so they wouldn't have to do all the work. Interesting model.
