Maybe when they initially get the players into the organization they are the the most talented as a whole. But as time goes on they add the Revs touch and ...voila!...mediocrity.

For crying out loud the Revs U18's were dominated by Seacoast last year simply because Seacoast hadthe best 4 or 5 players on the field. ...and this is no endorsement for Seacoast. They lost those players and now they are awful. Bottom line is academy coaches and training do very little. It provides a stage for players who work hard on their own to show their accomplishments. But don't kid yourself and think the Revs coaches have anything to do with it. When do you think ZH (who is the only true product of the Revs) will see his first meaningful minute in the MLS?

Not exactly. Perhaps in concentration, but they certainly don't cast a wide net.

Training as a team only 2-3 days/week is not enough to get the job done.

Still waiting for them to take the best in each of their age group players and send them to Sporting's Academy facilities during the winter break like they had promised.

Give it a couple of months. The Reality Bites contigent will outnumber your delusional "best of New England" Cool Aiders.

Insufficient training + poor coaching = poor development + mediocre results. Simple math.

There are two academies in state. Bolts doesn't trash talk Revs because their friends play there, and there is a lot of overlap. So what inspires people to come on a thread that is not their kid's academy, an academy their kid didn't make or wouldn't make, having probably sent their kid to training at Revs, having no understanding of what the coaching is like because even parents of players can't watch, and criticize the revs academy? Are people that small and miserable?

                    nice run on....

Plenty of Revs parents trash the Revs as well. They turn talent into mediocrity stew. But they're the one MLS game around so players will gravitate to them. The MLS affiliation and free tuition is a big draw. Their lackluster record speaks for itself

                      You've answered your own question.

People who've been over-involved in their son's sporting edeavors since the beginning become very disgruntled when they're shut out of the process and their kids ride the pine.

To a certain extent it's justified - a supposed development program should be developing all the players it felt were worthy of participating. Obviously then there's also the reality that their kids aren't as talented as they thought.

Free is great but sometimes you get exactly what you paid for it.

In the case of the Revs yes. There's plenty of talent around here; the Revs aren't doing enough with it. How long have those coaches been there? Seems like forever but maybe a change up is due? Of course, management would have to actually care to do something

This seems to be the case everywhere. Most clubs train 2-3 times per week. Both my kids' clubs have 2 team training sessions and 1 technical session which is about individual development and skills.

The reality is that for both my kids and all the strong players I've seen, they actually train and play 6-7 days, whether on their own, with a town team, with supplemental training, etc. Fitness work is also a priority from u13+, so even when they aren't touching a ball or practicing, they are working on strength and conditioning.

What are the DAP rules around training outside if the club and what do the Revs offer outside of the 2-3 team training sessions?
