Originally posted by Unregistered View Postbut they were taking the SAT. Or at the prom....lol of course they were. Revs tying OW is sad. There's no excuse for them not dominating their group for the last however many years other than management doesn't care and they put no effort into improving the program or the coaching. They've been fortunate that they're the only MLS game in town for many miles.
Other than this, there is no advantage to being on the Revs. I'd argue the non-MLS clubs probably care more about their players, because many players have been with these clubs since U-Little and they've invested a ton of time and personal effort while developing them into academy level players. They aren't just playing them one year and tossing them out to look for a better player, but really trying to do their best to strengthen any weaknesses as to keep them in the program. The Revs just grab them as U15/16 or U17/18 players (how many of those U13's will actually still be there in three or four more years?).

The only thing they have going for them is that they are free at all ages, rather than just the U15/16 & U17/18 that are now free at most non-MLS clubs, so they can grab some good players and put them into the pipeline early on that might not have been able to afford it otherwise.

with the U14 and U16 not everyone wants to commit and have a small shot of playing up the next year (only 5-7 play up) or get cut. Also the drive is too much for many.
