Academy is not about winning games. There are some players who are in over their heads, including "starters"

You made my point for me. However, I didn't feel it needed explaining.

but they were taking the SAT. Or at the prom....lol of course they were. Revs tying OW is sad. There's no excuse for them not dominating their group for the last however many years other than management doesn't care and they put no effort into improving the program or the coaching. They've been fortunate that they're the only MLS game in town for many miles.

Even the Bolts ran circles around OW. Beat OW 4-0 last week.

That was the u18s. The Bolts U16s lost to Oakwood

Yes, if your son's team scores 0 goals it's DEFINATELY not about winning.

Yes, this. There is actually no reason the Revs should be better than any of the non-MLS clubs. The only thing they have going for them is that they are free at all ages, rather than just the U15/16 & U17/18 that are now free at most non-MLS clubs, so they can grab some good players and put them into the pipeline early on that might not have been able to afford it otherwise.

Other than this, there is no advantage to being on the Revs. I'd argue the non-MLS clubs probably care more about their players, because many players have been with these clubs since U-Little and they've invested a ton of time and personal effort while developing them into academy level players. They aren't just playing them one year and tossing them out to look for a better player, but really trying to do their best to strengthen any weaknesses as to keep them in the program. The Revs just grab them as U15/16 or U17/18 players (how many of those U13's will actually still be there in three or four more years?).

You two basically said the same thing - Revs should be top of the heap. The MLS name and free tuition should (and does) attract the best talent in a big area. But as they don't care about development they're not top of the heap.

                              "best talent"- no

with the U14 and U16 not everyone wants to commit and have a small shot of playing up the next year (only 5-7 play up) or get cut. Also the drive is too much for many.

ok I'll clarify - more of the better talent.
