Being deceitful towards the Revs organization did not help his cause. Playing year round for other clubs and leagues and the final straw was signing with Boston City FC. They told him to get lost.

False. If you don't have the physicals they won't let you play up. Some are just late bloomers

If you don't have the physicals you aren't a difference maker, even at your age group. See the struggled to score comment. But keep chasing the dream with your kid - I'm sure he'll grow and become a difference maker at U18. But more likely he'll be cut.

He did not sign with BCFC. Revs offered NO offseason training -
He should have been commended for going for it on his own-
More touches in the offseason with good teams is a good thing -

As players get older, it gets harder and harder for them to supplement their +/- 2.5 Revs trainings per week with work on their own. This may account at least in part for the drop-off in the performance of players not on the fast track for homegrown status.

I guess the same happened with Milton Academy/Revs player AST. Heard he's trialing with Dinamo Zagreb. Fell prey to that $500 scam camp run by that former GPS, now NEFC coach.
Lesson to all, check the validity of these camps, they are everywhere. Revs got tired of his shenanigans too.

Yes, the Croatian club is a legit one. The camp however isn't, and just one of thousands that take your money and sell you a dream. You'd think parents would know better.

How do they determine who will play up in age group? A 2002 kid already has been called up to the U16 team even before the season gets underway. Don't get it.

What don't you get? If the player can handle the physicality of essentially playing two years up in age group and if the Revs' staff feels he's good enough, he's not going to be held back. Extremely beneficial for development. Look up Tab Ramos' viewpoint on playing up. Europe has been practicing this concept since the beginning of time. But only for a few select players, not all.
