Watching the Revs against an awful Chicago team. Revs are not any better. You do not want this oorganization 'teaching' your kids.

Please spare the insults. Are you watching this garbage?

Um, yes we do. Heaps and Soehn would not be coaching our boys.

But the idea is for the academy to emulate the 1st team

What is the alternative? My kid didn't tryout but a bunch of his friends did. Curious to see who made it as some are better than him, some worse(in my subjective, ignorant, opinion as a parent).

That being said if it had been his goal to go as far as possible with soccer(not his top sport) the revs would certainly been part of the plan(which it may be for his brother).

My point is are there really parents who are spinning that staying with nefc, gps, Valeo etc is superior to the revs? Seems pretty clear cut to me that the revs are the highest road, which doesn't mean perfect but the best option available.

"Emulate the 1st team"?? Uh, not exactly.

There may be parents saying the moon is made from cheese (this is T-S after all). Whether or not the Revs is the highest road or not isn't all that relevant. What's the point of being at the Revs ("the highest road") if your kid sits on the bench all game? Or, sits in a car for 4 hours a day to get to practice? Or, if you know the kid is not top 1/2 if the team and will likely be cut the next year? Or, the player doesn't have the real intense desire to improve his game at the level he would need to, etc. Best option available is not always the best option available. It's really that simple.

Those were some of the reasons my son didn't tryout. That being said those just ripping the coaching and revs system seem to be in bitter attack/damage control mode to explain why little Landon isn't on the team(will probably say it was his choice) and also why little Landon made a great/brilliant choice in not accepting the revs repeated overtures to recruit him.

So wrong. Starting NPL is an order of magnitude better than a perennial bench player. The top NPL starters, many already at same level as those in the bench, will develop much faster. Need to play to get better. Note that u13 DAP only play 20 games a year and no showcases. So basically a few hours total game time. You will figure it out eventually.

Like the poster above said, and others in this thread, it all depends on your kids goals and where he fits in the scheme of things. Revs are far from ideal (frustratingly so because they could be so much better). However, unless you're a consistent DA starter you should at least evaluate your other options very carefully. If you have a solid club that does showcases and you're a starter - then add a decent HS team where you can be captain, get All State etc. - you'll still get college looks. It will take more effort but it gets done all the time. Sitting does no one any good. If you're not a starter you're a practice cone
