So classy .. take a look and see that these kids are almost a year younger than the rest of the team. Not only will they grow but will be regular starters on the team next year.

What an embarrassing thread this is... People are nuts!

Wouldn't be impact players on a low level Maple team. There's a third little 02 on the team also that you wonder why the hell would the Revs have chosen him. Those two GPS 02's have been instant contributors even playing up with kids, some 1 year and a half older! Relentless, hard working players. Remember them from their GPS days, they haven't missed a beat.
"Skill level"?? saw them twice now and saw really nothing.
One is skilled, the other, not so much. He is in over his head. He might be better served playing on a non-DAP team next week.

You mean RDS? There are some players on the current U14 team that you do scratch your head over. I agree that there are better players on the Bolts. Do the Bolts players have a chance to get on the Revs this year?

You scratch your head because you have no clue about development. The Revs coaching staff does the best job in New England.

Most likely true but some kids just don't have it.

Don't get what you mean, there are 6 2002's on that team. At one point they will have to compete in their birth year. Relative age effect not withstanding. Some 2002's got significant starts this past year. Not them, is it because they are short, young, unskilled, what is it? and when will the excuses stop? They are out there to compete, period. 2002/2001/2000 it doesn't matter.

They cannot compete at that level, they get bounced off the ball continuously. The players coming in are not small from what I hear. The North Shore United 2002 is out of luck too, just the way it goes. The alleged high "skill level" that the poster is suggesting they have, is not at the level to beat players one on one by any stretch of the imagination. No magical development will help players like that. Just average players, like so many out there. They have been in over their heads all season from what we hear.
Not only are they small, but they're not fast either. Absolutely nothing stands out. My guess is those three will not come back. For what purpose? To ride the pine again? Better off at their clubs.

The times I witnessed the small Revs get called upon, I immediately noticed they couldn't handle the pace, skill level and physicality of Academy soccer. I felt genuinely bad for them and wondered why the Revs would put them in that situation. Maybe things got better for them as the season went along, I don't know.

Let's be honest here guys... 1/2 the Revs team would fit right in on some of the top teams in the state (in other words, no better or no worse than those players). No joke! The lure of the Revs is obviously recognition for College (please don't bore me with the idea that it's for "professional" soccer)... So, that takes a certain type of player / kid. There really is not anything all that "special" about some of those players... Above average, but not out of this world good.

For any parent considering Revs for their sons take note abut the comments on this thread. It could easily be your kid they're trashing.

They seem to favor RDS attendants over "new" kids.

Can you expand? If this were true, why are their older teams worse than the younger? Just wondering about what the best development means.

Sorry but I saw the Revs U18 play Seacoast a month ago ( I have no one on either team. Just a fan close to Gillette).

Seacoast was the better team and had the most skilled players. Revs goalie was excellent. I forget the score but Seacoast would have won by a few goals if not for him.

The U18 team is the least cohesive team. The Revs changed their philosophy during this teams first year entrance into the academy. They were always a bigger team but not as skilled. If you look at the current U16 there was only two players that you could consider big AS and AT. Both of these bigger kids are very fast and skilled.

My feeling is that when MP left the Revs as head coach , the new staff felt they needed to win more than develop and formed this U18 team . The new mindset is technical and smart players come first before Power and Speed.

Take IA when he came onto the U14 team . Very Skilled , great vision but was on the smaller size. He has grown so much during the last 2 years. The recent National call up are on the smaller side but very skilled.
The Revs do not need to prove to anyone that they can win. There has been scouts from Spain and England at Revs games . They don't want to look for big and fast but skilled and smart
