And here we have the most significant fundamental flaw with DA - the vast majority of players only care about college. They want the "top" league because that is what will help them get there. They know they're not NT or pro material. If boys ECNL gets off the ground it is going to take a dent out of non MLS clubs. Getting GDA off the ground is not going to be the virtual cakewalk it was on the boys side
To D3 or even D1, who cares. He played college soccer, great
Now what?
He gets a good education from a well respected shool and goes into interviews with great grades and college athletics on his resume. He makes 2 to 3 times more per year right out of college than a rookie in the MLS makes. He gets to play pick up soccer whenever he feels like it. Seems like a good situation if you ask me.
All Revs teams are encouraged to play a certain way. Creativity is not encouraged - actually it's frowned on. This playoff game is a perfect example. Very predictable soccer. On the other hand, look at Sporting Kansas and the brilliance there,
I'm a Rev's fan...not a basher.
I just watched the first 20 min. of this game and the Rev's are down 2-0 on two very weak goals. The second goal is a great shot but the lead up was poorly defended.
I'm at a loss, I expected a much better performance. I recently watched a group of U-14 town league players that displayed as much skill as the Rev's U16's showed in this game?
Poor touches, poor decisions and position on defense, too much long ball, no off ball movement or creativity, unable to possess...
Honestly, very shocked. Maybe this was a bad showing, but they just don't look like the cream of the crop for this region.
Yes we get it Revs dad - you only care about where your son lands for college. I hope your son is in agreement on why he's playing with the Revs because it's a lot of give up and it doesn't always go well for DA players. The Revs recruiting record is spotty and player churn is very common. You may also want to educate yourself on the number of foreign players playing US college soccer.

There in lies the frustration with the Revs DA. In such a large metro area plus MLS resources, the club should be much stronger. They get to be the top pick in the region because of the MLS affiliation, free to play, and the weakness of the other options

It was the worst they played all season. A classic get on the bus and forget about the game kind of game. They beat KSC 3-1 earlier in season.

Is this post even real? If not, you really have your son's future mapped out for him. God forbid he disappoint you with his post-college earnings.

He has the map drawn for himself already. He has a list of 5 schools he's totally keyed in on based on both athletic and academic matches. He knows what he wants to major in and what the post grad outlook is. He loves the game but he made the difficult choice to give up high school soccer. It's all him. You can try and project this on me all you want but that's your issue, not mine.
I'd rather he stay local for school and play high school soccer now. I think he has a shot at his target shools without an academy program.
