Four practices a week are mandated also...how often do the Revs follow that?

Look if your kid is jonesing to play for the Revs and is good enough to get a spot, that's great. It is a big accomplishment. Just go in with eyes wide open and consider your next best option carefully. It works out for many but not all.
Exactly. Five charity starts and maybe eight hours total playing time is defiantly much worse worse developmentally than playing on a good NPL team. Wait till these parents of superstars finally figure it out after 50-60 joyful rides on the trip to nowhere. They still get the "status" of DAP for their kid, even if the truth is bench status.

Look, as one poster pointed out, bench/reserves/trialists etc...are all part of the sport. The Revolution staff and coaches scout, evaluate and if they see a player has upside and room for development, they play. If they don't work hard at training week and week out all year long on a consistent basis, they drop down the chart. Someone also pointed out, if you and your budding superstar are afraid to fail in life, then what lessons are you really teaching him? Stay with you cozy little club and write the checks so he can play significant minutes. what else do you want to hear? Pros get released and cut every day.#lifelessons

Starters are rotated for development reasons.
Positions are rotated at the younger ages as well.
Players asked to play up (so don't nec. start on their team)

Don't think the Revs take "bench" players.
There are players on the U14 Revs who have had single digit playing times, granted they are 02's, but isn't that a major sign that the player is pretty much doomed?

Or perhaps not, what do tell the kid in that possible scenario?

For the better dozen players perhaps but the deep bench players, a handful of minutes will retard development. Talk to some of the sour faced parents on the u14 team. Where do you think those players will be for the combined u15-16 team when they bring in a few more stuffs and cut more than half the players? Basically a year or two of training for your kid and then dumped, that's the reality.

Thousands of errors are made by thousands of professional scouts every single day in every sport. Not an exact science, pro franchises hang in the balance of finding one or two gems that they can add to their teams and hope they can significantly contribute. Millions of dollars are spent on scouting. Forget the retarding od development, development takes place in the system (at training, in the classroom and in matches). "Dumped" as you put it, is not the message you should be sending to your kid. With all due respect, you have a losers mentality. The kid should be encouraged to bounce back in life.

Please Valeo group, get lost! We're trying to have somewhat of an intelligent conversation here. Do you have to sabotage every friggin' thread?? Enough!! Don't know who you guys are, nor do I care. What's a valeo anyway? What does it mean? What a ridiculous name.

What a pompous idiot. Ive seen your superstars from Valeo. Maybe a a very small handful of good players in all age groups for Revs, the rest should stay with Maple. Just not good enough.

It isn't just about scouting/selection errors. It's also about what the coaching staff does (or really doesn't do) with the talent they have. The Revs can (and do) get some of the best talent in a large metro area, even from other states. It's a weaker bracket. But they go nowhere, just like the MLS club
