PLEASE go watch the u18's play an opponent. Revs bring in talented 13 and 14 year olds and do NOTHING with them. And they have a giant talent pool to pick from.

Watch the MLS team and have someone whose opinion you trust tell you what they think of the Revs coaching (or lack of coaching). Well, what strategies and techniques do you think the DAP teams are using?

If you like your organization and are happy with the coaches, AND your son is enjoying himself, consider staying.
Go away, you're an idiot. No one shares your views on this.

Of course I know that waivers refer to DAP teams. I was describing the process that the clubs go through in getting players waivered.

I completely agree with the poster. Most parents are completely delusional, which is more to the point

Please tell why we should be impressed with Jay Heaps and the Revs?

            And now the DAP teams.
The results seem to back up the claim that the Revs take good, young players and do little with them:

            U14 vs. Seacoast - Revs 6 Seacoast 0
            U16 vs. Seacoast - Revs 2 Seacoast 0
            U18 vs. Seacoast - Revs 0 Seacoast 0

This is a great point. There seems to be little development going on through the Revs academy organization. How many homegrown players have the Revs signed? Could be the least in the league, excepting some of the newer teams. Plus, Scotty, who is a phenomenal player, was only with the academy for one year between Bradenton and going off to college, so the Revs had little to do with his development.

These scores say nothing. They could be totally different if they played today. 90% of what makes an elite player comes from the player themselves. I think it is funny that people think if they put their kid in the hands of a certain coach or organization they will become a professional.

Ha good point. But I think the new wave of players will be better because their training was different than the current U18s. Also the U13 and U14 age groups have a higher concentration of highly skilled players. I think the Rev coaches need to recognize this and embrace the newer generation which does not fit their style.

Actually, the Revs are near the top in the league in homegrown player minutes on the first team. It looks like they have at least 3 or 4 more solid homegrown prospects in the pipeline right now.

How is the training different? Most of the current U18s have been with the Revs since U14. The training hasn't changed appreciably over the past 4 years.

You seriously think that the Revs had anything to do with the development of Diego Fagundez or Scott Caldwell?

The Revs are painful to watch. And it's even more painful to listen to tv commentators who are obviously afraid of losing their job try to paint a rosy picture of the team while they are being completely outplayed right before your eyes.

Teal Bunbury was playing striker for crying out loud. He should not be near the field! Any coach that does not know that deserves the results the Revs will continue to get.

Quite true and pathetic for an area this rich in soccer talent. Still the lack of focus on the revs academy comes from the top and will continue while Kraft remains oblivious to soccer.

The GPS coaches are often ridiculed on here, but they are 100% MORE Enthusiastic than the revs coaches about developing players.

The Rev coaches know what they will have in next year's 2003 and 2002 teams. The talent is already there.

The Revolution seem to have taken a homegrown approach with their philosophy. Discovery and TAM rules make it easy for MLS teams to sign and add a couple of aging foreign players as DP's to your team to try to stay competitive. It's pretty obvious the Revs don't want to go that way. BOTN mentions that the Revs will be sending their top youngest age group players. (players they feel have the greatest chance of playing in MLS) to Sporting Academy this summer for training. Sporting has an affiliation with the Revolution it seems. I believe they have a hotel and housing facilities there in Lisbon.

Sporting Academy in Alcochete is one on the most renowned Academies in the world. I hope this is true. The Revs are smart to offer their best young players an opportunity at European training. The Sporting affiliation just brought in a player on loan from them.
