Americans like to put together teams, even at the Pee Wee level, that are meant to win. The best soccer-playing nations build individual players, ones with superior technical skills who later come together on teams the U.S. struggles to beat. In a way, it is a reversal of type. Americans tend to think of Europeans as collectivists and themselves as individualists. But in sports, it is the opposite. The Europeans build up the assets of individual players. Americans underdevelop the individual, **although most of the volunteers who coach at the youngest level would not be cognizant of that.

Thank you, mr. American. We, Europeans value and appreciate your self-criticism. Let us know when you finally start doing something about what you say.
The only question we have is: when you say AMERICANS do you mean NEP or NEFC?

As with any club that has teams playing up, the fairest comparison is their results against the age group that they are playing against - not what age group they are.

To respond to your point though, there are three U13 (01/02) teams. See attached link.

In the case of the Valeo U12 Elite team, they collectively put a team of kids together who have developed individually over the past years. The result is that they are a strong team that does well.

Time will tell if they continue to apply their development across this team or just merge again to up their capabilities. NEFC has a focused U12 individual development criteria and continuous evaluation toward betterment for each individual/not for each win). Heard a lot of favoritism/nepotism goes on 'elsewhere'. Can;t be beneficial in the long run

So using the earlier poster's point about developing individuals first to be successful long-term - won't the formation of this team be detrimental to their development?... and shouldn't they continue to develop as individuals?

No and yes. They are thriving playing soccer five or six times a week at a very high level both in practice and in games. The proper level of challenging competition is a crucial component of individual and team development. Combined with exceptional coaching, their rate of development is unmatched in MA. They've proven that on the field already.

this is all quite amusing...we are talking about 11 and 12 year old kids here right ?...while I am sure they are indeed quite good given all the hype, lets not overdo it at this age folks..seriously. I previously saw some "great" U10 teams who never lost and by the time they were U14/15 other teams caught up with them. Do these kids a favor and let them have fun before you bless them as "unmatched" and the future members of the US national team

This post is why Valeo gets **** on by everyone. These are 11 year old kids and somehow they've already "proven on the field", despite the season being 2 weeks old, that their "exceptional coaching" has created "development unmatched in MA". Be sure to let us know when La Masia calls and offers you 15 academy spots and a couple coaching slots. Cheers!

Please read again, their rate of development is unmatched. Serious question, why do you think they can play at the top level up a year?

This is an amazing team. It combines the grit and confidence of the best NU players with the organization and silky passing of Valeo. They could go far.

How many teams in the state have you assessed for their rate of development? If you are using wins and losses to determine this you should stop wasting your time. To say that this team in "unmatched" in MA based on any criteria is the definition of hubris. Please provide your qualifications to assess anything.

You assumed that this was a genuine question rather than a troll trying to raise "concerns" about individual skill development at Valeo. Nobody who has seen a Valeo practice shares those concerns.

So to clarify - are you saying the NU players are tough and think they're good... while the Valeo players are soccer-smart and skilled?
