If MYSA would help towns set up a Striker like program that would then play on Sundays in either Maple or a league like Maple, the soccer level in MA would go way up.

And MYSA would be relevant again.
The Striker model is good but for $500 you are not getting a lot of winter or summer training. Over a few years that adds up and explains why Strikers Andre champ are now at about the same level as u12 Valeo. You got what you paid for.
i have not seen anything with NPL new england for boys
Many top players and teams have made the move to NPL. Maple and Especially NEP will be greatly watered down. The older kids get the further you will have to travel it seems to find equal competition.

The Striker model is not meant to be a replacement for clubs but it is more an intermediary step.
It wouldn't affect a club like Valeo but it would have a big impact to GPS and NEFC.

Please give the Summer and Winter training issue a rest. You CAN be successful without year round training.

The gap between CA, TX and MA is largely about year round training. Many northern clubs have attempted to address this issue, not jus Valeo. If you think your child is so amazing that he can get by with a third less training, well good luck. And don't really care if it bothers you.

We'll both get what we paid for. That would be a spot on a high school team for our child somewhere, most likely no college soccer but certainly no financial help, zero chance at professional glory and perhaps a knee reconstruction at 32 from some hack in a local men's league in 2034.
The sad part is that you'll pay 5-10X more than me over the course of time.

I get that your situation is a good one. You are making the assumption that your situation is open to others. A/B has a great youth soccer program. Not all towns do and not all players have the ability to travel to Striker-land.
I think it is great you can play for 75% less cost at just about the same level.

Well at least you have clarified your son's objective. Some boys have higher aspirations than high school soccer. To each his own.

I don't think you have a clue what other clubs do for training. You might check out how some of the "year round" training states did in the NPL and USYS events just held, you'd be surprised.

You might want to check the DAP standings over the last five years. The top not from CA/Tx etc. all have indoor facilities. Why do you think Bolts wanted Valeo?
Partially true. Top teams Galaxy and FC Dallas are perennially in the top 2 in their Div. Salt Lake is a heavy hitter as well but their facility is in AZ. Red Bull and Vancouver obviously have indoor facilities for their teams. Those are the A+ programs. So, you have a fairly even split warm weather vs. cold weather.
The A- programs are still mostly MLS clubs except for Mid-Atlantic where D.C. United doesn't quite have it together. A better statement would be that the top teams in DAP are MLS clubs.
