    Prep School and MLSnext teams

Hoping someone can help me avoid doing a lot of research, does anyone know what MLSn academies are close to some of the ISP prep schools?
My son is considering one but we are having a hard time finding a good team to play with in the offseason. We are looking at boarding so we need to
be careful about what club he will get training with after the HS season.

    Thanks (not from Mass)

Worcester Academy is in Central MA, has a good soccer program. Several of the boys play for NEFC and Bolts. NMH has good soccer but is not near any clubs but the boys play for several anyways. Not sure how they get back and forth but an NMH parent may know better. Milton Academy is closer to Boston and will be closer to Boston based clubs.

Where do the kids that play for Choate, Groton, Hotchkiss play?

Non-academy MLSN in CT are Oakwood and Beachside. Oakwood would be closest to Choate. New this year is CUFC academy which is in Danbury now but has plans to build a facility in Bridgeport.
2 clubs in CT have ECNL; CFC in Bethany and FSA in Farmington. CFC 's ECNL program is run by Quinipiac Coaches. Might want to post on the CT page, maybe someone there can weigh in on where students of those schools play. Only one I know at Choate plays for Ginga which is in the EDP NL league. Groton I would think would be closer to RI teams than quality CT teams. Hotchkiss is probably closer to some Mass clubs.

Some get waivers and are allowed to play

The top MLS Next players make their own rules. They play NEPSAC in the fall and MLS Next in the spring.

Groton and Hotchkiss are bad programs. They shouldn’t be on your list.

I Do not recommend MLS for boarding students Unless the club is onboard way in advance about the limitation of the player. Traveling to events and out of state games are difficult unless there are other kids that play for the same team and are not boarding. Study hours and Saturday classes usually fill boarding student schedules and fitting soccer practice and games is sometimes crazy, NAL offers more flexibility and training,

mls next allows an exception for high school soccer if the player has a scholarship that is dependent on them playing for the team.

If the player is not american, they can only play for one season

ISL schools don’t offer athletic scholarships. They only provide need based aid.

The majority of WA’s team plays for NEFC. Some for mls next, others NAL. The boarders carpool to practices with others like a day student or a parent and then take an Uber once in a while as needed.

Philips Exeter and Seacoast United are fairly close. Not mass but in NH.
