Clearly, we will forge through and count the consequences later. Just glad I live in MA. I’m pro-life but if people have to die because of ignorant leadership, better it happens in those red states.
the last four years have caused us to rethink where we want to spend our retirement years. red states are a lot less appealing once you start to think about the impact local/state level laws have on your everyday life.

Their deaths numbers dropped dramatically and the state wasn't hit nearly as hard in the fall surge as other states. https://www.statista.com/statistics/...s-us-by-state/

Population wise NY and CA net negatives are barely measurable over the last 10 years. MI and WVA and MS are losing at a faster rate. https://www.brookings.edu/research/c...%20the%201980s.
Interesting that many red states weren't too far behind the leading NE death states

I see. Tell us again how Trump was responsible for the surging stock market and low unemployment that Obama gifted Trump. Trump and you cons were more than happy to give Donnie all the credit for that. But of course accept zero blame for the recession that started in February 2020 before Covid.

What's imbecilic is a con like you unwilling to blame Trump for the horrendous response to the pandemic and his inept policy of leaving the response to the states because he had no idea what he was doing. If you recall that was his identical policy with vaccines -- the states were responsible for administration and the pharmaceutical companies were responsible for delivering the vaccines to the states. You're too much of a blind idol worshipper to appreciate that Biden completely turned that philosophy around and put the federal government in the middle of the response because his administration is full of industry leaders and not flunky radiologists and sycophants who had no clue what they were doing.

Biden sure as hell did learn from Trump's ineptitude. Trump, on the other hand, learned no lessons from his failed response to the pandemic and continued to pass the buck to the states and governors and mayors. The wealthiest and most technologically savvy country in the world with the best scientists has the most deaths and one of the worst responses, all due to Donnie boy. Mr. I don't believe in science and will recommend drinking bleach to kill the virus. Moran.

Here's another fun fact for ons: OR and WA, two blue states, did have widespread shutdowns and are in the bottom ten for cases and deaths per capita.

and they also happen to be of the least populated states to begin with. absolutely nothing like what states like NY, FL, MA, CT, CA, and TX bring to the table for our countries economy.

You can shut down oregon, and washington and the effects are minimal. you simply cann't shut down NY, or TX, or CA or FL.

And Guess what? People in states like TX and FL are a hell lot happier than people in states like CA and NY.

              More bad news for cons

"In the fourth month of his presidency, Biden's overall approval rating sits at 63%. When it comes to the new Democratic president's handling of the pandemic, 71% of Americans approve, including 47% of Republicans.

The AP-NORC poll also shows an uptick in Americans' overall optimism about the state of the country. Fifty-four percent say the country is on the right track, higher than at any point in AP-NORC polls conducted since 2017; 44% think the nation is on the wrong track."

Trump never came within a mile of those numbers

So explain why ND is the #1 state for cases per capita con? Or SD #3 in the country and both Dakotas are far more remote than OR and WA. UT is #4, AZ #6. Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin also in the top 10. In fact that only blue state in the top ten of cases is RI. For deaths per capita in the top 10 you'll find MS, AZ, LA and SD; ND, OK and AL in the top 15.

Wrong again con - people in CA are quite happy, #6 in the US in 2020 (Hawaii #1). Even cold and pricey NY (17th) does better than TX (25th) and FL (27th) on overall happiness scores.

the fact that 1000s of people are leaving NY and CA while TX and FL are gaining 1000s of people (facts are that NY and CA are losing house seats while TX and FL are gaining them)

really does not support the ramblings of some hack job liberal journalist.

seriously, when was the last time you personally heard of anyone leaving FL to go to NY or MA? you going to tell us about your one grand example? really? gtfoh.

Actually CA has the lowest positivity rate in the country now….less than 1%.

Losers from “taker” states aren’t exactly enthusiastic about coming to the “maker” states. Simple answer to simple questions.

FL man would never thrive in MA. Duh.

I haven’t seen the con contest my correction of another con big lie ….that FL and TX did not shut down their economies.

They did as the evidence I posted shows.

Since the con acknowledged similar death rates for all 4 states, that shows what a miserable job FL and TX did since they didn’t have to deal with the first wave of trouble.

Pathetic that even with the early warning and the fact that both Abbot and DeSantis shut down their states, they are among the worst states in the nation for rate of Covid infect and deaths.

CA still retained net positive number until this last year when they lost 70K more people going out vs in - out of nearly 40M people. Overall the very populated state grew 6.2% over the last ten years, not bad for a state already so large. TX and FL aren't even the fastest growing states either.
