The entire deal was murky. Obama and his administration feared that a tribunal would award Iran billions, so they settled on 400 million plus interest.

In addition, the money was never " owed " to the current regime. It was money from the Shah of Iran for military weapons, an order that was never filled. We know what happened to the Shah, so the new regime pressed for the money and- Poof.... hostages were released.

They would have most likely would have received the money from the Hague agreement without the hostages being released, and then there is the issue of the Nuke deal and the lifting of sanctions.

The Obama Administration sure was looking out for them. The Regime promised not to build a nuke for 10 years , got more than a billion in Swiss Franqs, because Congress said you can't give them dollars, sanctions were lifted and they could keep on supplying weapons to anyone with the cash.

The difference is Iran was an OBAMA deal. Trump is obsessed with destroying anything and everything Obama touched, good and bad. It's truly a mental illness at this point. If every new administration rips up what past ones did we would never go anywhere as a nation. Corporations, other countries, the military, our own citizens need to feel that government is stable and that laws and agreements will be abided by. Sure some things change, but the bulk needs to stay stable.

like you said it was Obamas deal- not the countries, as the congress needs to ratify treaties
if it was so good why didnt obama bring it to congress- even chuck E shumer disavowed the deal,lots of dems did

they never stopped building their weapon systems they just couldnt put them together under the deal- they were already enriching Uranium before the deal
they got targeting and propulsion for the chinese the same time as the Norks under clinton with Loral
