Not surprising when the bulk of the deaths occurred in the spring of 2020 when the virus went undetected in the NE, as well as last year's holiday surge before vaccines were widely available. On a per capita basis CT has done better with deaths than many other states. First column shows states ranked by total deaths per 100K. Believe me I'm not fan of Lamont's but CT after that intial nightmare CT has done very well. Oh, and other than mask wearing we've largely lived our lives normally. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graph..._gfx/&state=CT

lamont is a liberal weenie but on Covid he did fine
his biggest good decision was NOT following Cuommo and Murphy - that saved us
that took balls because everyone thought Cuommo figured this thing out early- he just figured out how to get a lot of people dead

I posted the data. Like I said I'm no Lamont fan but have been grateful to be in this state during the last two years. We all got vax'd well before family and friends in other parts of the country, most schools and sports ran when they still weren't in other areas. the state is highly vaccinated now which is why even when we had case spikes with Omicron our hospitalization and death rate was low and fell quickly. The virus still had people to infect but ran out of people to make seriously ill.

Lamont went on CNN and said out loud we need to stop increased unemployment back in summer 2020 or so. He is not a liberal weenie.

Lamont announces CT as one of the first blue states to roll back masks in schools because our case numbers and % positivity have fallen so dramatically. With such a high vaccination rate the virus has run out of people to make seriously ill. What will cons have to complain about now?

They will complain that Lamont (a business man) is not their guy. He did well, but like all politicians he has to continue to do well. No that the state is growing again and tax base expanding he needs to look to cut taxes, hold expenditures flat, and resist new spending.

CIAC asks the Department of Health to uplift the mask mandate for high school indoor track state championship this Thursday.

Maybe the rise in Homicides ( one each the last 3 days in Hartford ) , carjackings and his support of the Police Accountability Bill which has led Police to abandon chasing after suspects or intervening when their livelihood is threatened. Not to mention the Billion $ it is costing CT taxpayers to support Blumenthal and Murphy’s illegals in the state.
Lamont must think CT citizens are fools for proposing tax cuts after the Feds sent taxpayer money disguised as COVID relief. Why wait to Feb 28 to lift the masks off of kid’s faces. Hasn’t there been enough damage done to them?

Because most have a long weekend coming up and many will be traveling or hanging out locally with friends, which ups their exposure risk. Waiting until the end of the month gives that time to play out.

When you complain about kids "suffering " you lose an argument. Yes its been hard on some kids but most have adapted and are far tougher than the snowflakes you are raising

Masking children for almost two years prevented them from seeing the faces of their teachers, mentors and other adults and students in the educational arena. Facial clues for cognitive development in children, especially young children is essential to their development . There isn’t any argument against that. “ Remote learning” . Masks , and other assorted mandates imposed on children are unique in that they have never existed in American history. Children are suffering, and have suffered. Many , not “ some” as you opine.

Watch the test scores decline, watch the behavioral problems increase , and watch the mental health facilities report increased activity, which has already occurred .
These will be the consequences down the road, and the unintended consequences are yet to appear.

Learning facial cues happens at the younger ages and primarily at home where there isn't masking. You are vastly overstating the impact and also assuming kids can't learn once this has all passed

mandates need to go away. If you want to wear a mask, please do so. If you want your child to wear a mask please do so. If you want to complain about masks not being mandated, please home school your child. We should all have the choice. Thats what makes America....freedom of choice. I have the right to choose to do this and you have the right to do that....Freedom of choice

Are you a child development or educational expert? We don't know the long term impacts because they have yet to be studied or conclusions reached.
