Pretty sure that they should begin to list these vaccines as treatments. It's very much like taking tylenol and drinking a ton of water before going to bed after a long night out drinking ..... You will still be hungover tomorrow, but hopefully not as bad. Similarly, unlike other vaccines, the efficacy for the covid ones does not appear to be as effective as we were lead to believe (take for instance vaccines for polio, MMR, chicken pox ..... which do seem to inhibit infection from those viruses). While the covid shots do seem to minimize hospitalizations and deaths, they do not prevent infection.

We will never get rid of Covid altogether but between vaccinations, boosters and treatments we will be better equipped to manage it. Flu vaccinations and flu antivirals also essential several illnesses and save lives and no one blinks at those. However Covid is a more severe illness than flu and for the near term still has to be battled (at least current versions; mutations might be more mild, or possibly more severe. Mutations are hard to predict).
did not miss a thing...that was my point exactly...I do not get the flu shot because they are guessing every year at which strand it will be so they can produce it in time for the flu season...if I get it they have Tamiflu to tamp down symptoms and lessen their effect...yes mutations are hard to predict and especially hard to predict if a vaccine will be effective against it...my point is to continue developing more and more effective treatments to deal with this because they will be more useful in combatting the virus

Both vaccines and treatments are better together. Dozens of companies have been working on both but existing vaccine technology resulted in vaccines hitting first. Vaccines absolutely have helped keep.more people out of the hospital. While flu is less serious, flu vaccines help people more people alive and out of the hospital.

Are they developing a vaccine for omicron?

Is there money to be made, power to be gained, and ability to generate more hysteria??

If you're triple vaxd you're good to go. Even if you get Covid you shouldn't need
extensive medical care and in fact may have no symptoms at all. But as omicron spreads, combined with winter indoor and holiday activities, cases will take off again. Because so many are still unvaccinated it will still badly impact the health care system. Hopefully the (apparently) somewhat more mild omicron variant won't result in as many deaths as Delta but again, the sheer volume of unvaccinated people in this country will impact all of us.

Of course but a 3rd booster of the current versions offer excellent protection. Only two shots is still good, just not as good especially if you got yours earlier in the year. Omicron is spreading so fast they may not be able to get an omicron targeted version out in time which is why they're pushing for boosters now. The UK has been our bellwether the last two years. They have seen the number of omicron cases reach the same number of Delta cases in nearly 1/3 the time. We will see the same after the holidays.

What is the number of unvaccinated again? How many of the unvaccinated have already had covid? How many of the unvaccinated have been advised against it by their doctor?

30% of adults still aren't vaccinated but there's also millions of eligible kids unvaccinated as well. 160K unvaccinated people have died since June, which is on the late end of the vaccine being widely available everywhere. In other words since then there's no excuse to not be vaccinated beyond your own conspiracy theories and Joe Rogan science. There's an incredibly narrow set of medical conditions that aren't warranted for vaccination, a tiny fraction. Nearly all physicians are vaccinated, another indicator. It drops some among nurses and goes lower with with lower level Healthcare workers.

Over 30,000 residents in this town, one “ covid related “ death in 8 weeks.
                        Fact.

Yes all major pharma companies are, but it’s likely the myPillow guy will be the first to market. Who knew you could bottle drool from sleeping COVID patients and remarked it?

My Under 12 kids are fully vaccinated and ready to stomp yours on the pitch. BTW Inhaling turf pellets actually doesn’t protect against the virus in case you were planning on that.
