We will never get rid of Covid altogether but between vaccinations, boosters and treatments we will be better equipped to manage it. Flu vaccinations and flu antivirals also essential several illnesses and save lives and no one blinks at those. However Covid is a more severe illness than flu and for the near term still has to be battled (at least current versions; mutations might be more mild, or possibly more severe. Mutations are hard to predict).

Both vaccines and treatments are better together. Dozens of companies have been working on both but existing vaccine technology resulted in vaccines hitting first. Vaccines absolutely have helped keep.more people out of the hospital. While flu is less serious, flu vaccines help people more people alive and out of the hospital.

extensive medical care and in fact may have no symptoms at all. But as omicron spreads, combined with winter indoor and holiday activities, cases will take off again. Because so many are still unvaccinated it will still badly impact the health care system. Hopefully the (apparently) somewhat more mild omicron variant won't result in as many deaths as Delta but again, the sheer volume of unvaccinated people in this country will impact all of us.

In other words since then there's no excuse to not be vaccinated beyond your own conspiracy theories and Joe Rogan science. There's an incredibly narrow set of medical conditions that aren't warranted for vaccination, a tiny fraction. Nearly all physicians are vaccinated, another indicator. It drops some among nurses and goes lower with with lower level Healthcare workers.
