You and science don’t mix well, but I’ll try here. After 18 months of the world (including kids) wearing masks and social distancing some annual strains of the flu have likely be eliminated from existence. This is a big deal because the vaccinations can now be more precise. Masks you see keep your vapors close to you and prevent the spread to others - they don’t filter out what you breath for the most part unless they are N95. My kids K-4 Farmington Valley school has not had a single case this year due to consistent mask wearing and older family members being vaccinated. Relax though this argument is almost over once most school age kids get vaccinated. Then you’ll realize you were fighting the wrong battle. We just need to control the spread to give science and distribution time to get wide spread vaccination before too many variants were born and the odds of one of them being unable to be contained by vaccination (just like you).

NPR? Propaganda central. I’ll repeat , there have been more COVID “ related’ deaths in America this year than before the vaccine, and before mask wearing was implemented. I suppose you and NPR forgot about the early advice regarding masks weren’t necessary. “ Social distancing” ? Where is the scientific evidence that 6 feet , or did it change to 3 feet, is a deterrent to the spread of the virus ? Or is it based on practices from a previous century ?

That only happens in areas where the last labor negotiation was contentious. Private teachers work for peanuts and they enjoy eating the same TV dinner every night.

Avon. It wasn’t hard to pull off either - just smart planning and active coordination for the handful of cases that sent individual classrooms home for a couple weeks. Full time virtual was available for those who felt they needed it (teachers and students). Desk shields, masks, cohorting recess, electives, and specials. Credit to the administration for execution and parents for seeing that virtual was not sustainable for working parents who basically had to teach their kids for several months during the prior school year

If you lived in a more urban environment in CT you had a different experience, which is less explainable like most things. But probably so that local parents feared more the impact of “another lost year” more than the risk of covid given all the precautions taken and wanted to give it a try after the hell of a couple weeks of A/B days. Spare the political responses. Avon elected democrats for general and local elections. This was more about everyone being on the same page for the kids in an apolitical manner.

There was not a public school district in Fairfield county that was not on a hybird system in 2020. Three days in, two days on-line, or something of that nature. Only way to do social distancing that was required. So it may have been full time, but not full time in classroom.
