If Trump had taken Covid-19 seriously from the start instead of turning it into a soapbox, and took strict measures from Day 1 instead of telling everyone there would be no more than 15 cases, and if Trump listened to scientists and mandated masks and distancing and closed borders until the virus was under control, like Australia and New Zealand did, Trump would have won by the greatest electoral college victory ever. But he didn't do that. And Biden will take it seriously. And he will, by default, be credited with ending the virus. And the Dems will ride high on that just in time for the mid terms

Many of the better staff left the CDC awhile ago because of ineptitude at the top, budget cuts etc. It will take some time to rebuild their reputation, morale and staffing. That's what happens when you have a POTUS intent on destruction of government systems. Many other agencies have seen similar. Easy enough to rail against them until you actually NEED them.
