where do YOU think the $$$ is going to come from? we are broke and have been for a while
States need more $$$ because they spend to much
the top 1% in NY city pay the bills for the city- and they have lost 1/2 of them- New Yorks tax base will never recover from that- NEVER

So you are saying if we had more money from federal, ct would have vaccinated more people? You know this how? If the feds delivered it, then you can be sure the hospital had the right refrigeration. Otherwise, they would not have shipped to that location. How hard is it to get nurses to stick people. States had a long time to figure out how to administer it. They are failing. Facts are facts

Nurses are busy being nurses. A lot of states are relying on teams from pharmacies to come in and vaccinate. But they also need staffing, supplies etc which all costs money. Few facilities can handle the extra cold storage requirements which is also slowing things down.

"States and counties need more resources to accelerate the pace of vaccination, Fauci said. Trump in recent days has defended his administration’s rollout by saying it’s the responsibility of the states to administer the shots once they’re delivered by Operation Warp Speed...Dr. Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania, told CNN on Thursday that the federal government invested massively in vaccine development but has failed to match that effort when it comes to distribution and administration.

CT seems to be doing better than average

According to a report from Bloomberg News, about 2.13 million people as of Monday had received a vaccine dose. That’s not only far short of the initial Operation Warp Speed goal, it’s also less than 20% of the doses initially sent to states, indicating some states are lagging with their vaccination distribution. The same report shows that Connecticut has so far distributed a significantly higher 31% of its doses.

Dr. Deidre Gifford, Connecticut’s acting public health commissioner, said Monday that “a lot of things are working well” with the state’s vaccination rollout.

Quite hard, when they are A) understaffed, and B) in charge of other caseloads that they are also overworked for. Nurses can barely get their own day-to-day jobs done let alone adding the burden of "sticking" 60-70% of the State in double-quick time to get as many people as possible vaccinated.

Work some ot.....they complain they are over worked.

Guess what, elective surgeries are down. Nurses should have bandwidth. PAs and doctors too.

I have been to the hospital. The amount of stuff sitting round talking and waiting is ridiculous. Two fat nurses in the ER pushing insurance paperwork around a desk.

Said another way, trumps op warp speed got a vaccine developed, tested and in the hands of the states in record speed, shaving months/years off the normal timeline, but the states could only distribute less than 20 percent of what they got in 2 weeks or so.

              Epic fail

Take a look at this.....seems like ct has raked in plenty this year. Fake 🐊 tears about they need more. Ct takes in ~20b a year in taxes. They can’t figure out a way to pay some ot to get shots administrated? That’s loose change found in the couch!

based on this it looks like we're doing better than many other states (% vaccinated so far)

                      https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...ine-doses.html

However he government also fell short of it's goal of 20M doses delivered - they hit close to 13M as of yesterday. I'm sure that's Lamont's fault too?

Come on Snowflake. All states don’t report their information at the same exact time with the same precision so there’ll be differences and virtually impossible to compare states especially this early on. But if you insist yes CT 6th behind 5 red states including West Virginia, North and South Dakota and Alaska. Whoo Yhoo.

Ahead of NY, NJ, GA, TX, CO....ahead of 40+ states, but not good enough for you it seems.

You miss the point. Data is not synchronized between states. Knowing who’s really ahead is not knowable right now.

The ER and ICU are tiny portions of any hospital
They move staff around during stuff like this
Surgery nurses are now doing shifts in those depts
