More on the NYC smallpox rollout in 1947. Most residents had already been vaccinated but there were concerns their immunity may have worn off to guard against a recent outbreak. Not only is smallpox highly contagious and more lethal, if you survive it's often horribly disfiguring. We have a POTUS who says Covid is like the flu.

    - the public health commissioner laid it all out there on radio addresses to all New Yorkers. A consistent message to all (FOX vs CNN anyone?)

    - the vaccine was already available and didn't require special storage. There were some bad side effects for some patients but it had decades of proven effectiveness and general safety

    - the mayor of NYC and President Trump rolled up their sleeves for the cameras. They're trying that now but Trump, well....

    - “In 1947, the city was able to act alone, as opposed to navigating a complicated relationship with the governor of New York and the federal government,” said Dr. Irwin Redlener, director of the Pandemic Resource and Response Initiative at Columbia University’s Earth Institute. “The city was able to say, ‘We’re going after this,’ and then make it happen.”

    - "the city enlisted thousands of civilian volunteers to help deliver inoculations. Armed with vials of vaccine, the volunteers, along with professional health care providers, administered as many as eight doses per minute. Making their way through every school in the city, they inoculated 889,000 students. In the first two weeks, five million New Yorkers were vaccinated against smallpox."

I remember getting vaccinated at school as a child. We don't do that any longer as a nation. You have to go to your doctor or a pharmacy for the flu vaccine, and I've no idea what CT's plans are for Covid vaccinations for most residents.

Let me guess. Cuomo’s grandfather was the leader of the 1901 raids. Sounds like something he would do.

          hil-ar-ious. Not.

Sadly an ex girlfriend did call police last year about his intense interest and apparent skills with bomb making. They looked around the outside of his house and only saw security cameras. There wasn't enough to go on or it it's unclear if they even sought a search warrant. They claim they sent the tip to the FBI but the FBI has no record of it. The guy was a true conspiracy nut - believed there were shapeshifting lizard people controlling things.

If his target was the AT&T building and 5G he succeed there. Family in TN, not even near Nashville, said phone systems have been a mess and it stretches into GA.

                Dear Team Apocalypse Guy

Here is another strike against mask being effective.
I am sure you think if people would just wear the mask at home we could stop it.
Hold up a minute. A CostCo was just deemed a super spreader event as 145 employees test positive despite their very strict mask policy for employees, customers and vendors.
So you see, going to work for 8 hours wearing a mask inside did not stop the virus from spreading among over 40% of the employees. If the mask did not help there, I would expect it would not work at home either.

Do we need to mask harder? Two mask?

I think the problem actually is right in front of you. To you everyone is a liberal; that’s got to be an exhausting daily battle where your frustration boils over. I pray that you pull the ripcord before you end up going too far into the rabbit hole like that dork down in Nashville.

No, I am a centrist, history buff, and leader of a 120 person billion dollar annual revenue business. Being on the extreme left or right is foolish and limits your full potential in life. I admire what Mac and Ike achieved logistically and strategically in their respective theaters during WW2 equally to how Kennedy navigated the Bay of Pigs and found a way to make a productive competition out of the Cold War with Apollo. There is something to take from each leader. Collectively though they each “owned” their dependencies when it mattered for the nation.

What does this mean? You don’t defer responsibility and key decisions to hundreds of random people when it matters. You own it and demand a clear plan with contingencies from those underneath you. I realize you are probably a landscaper or tow-truck driver and will not understand why this is so important, but it is - this is the blueprint for how how some leaders consistently win. For this vaccine, each state can have a plan, but really should have presented it in detail for his approval. Why? Because this vaccine development and distribution effort is the single most important potential achievement of Trumps Presidency. It is his legacy and possibly the only thing history will smile upon. But his lack of detailed interest shows poorly and jeopardizes that legacy. You: We have a vaccine, why do you carer? Aside from more deaths from a slower rollout, there is the little bugaboo of investing billions of tax payer dollars. I thought this guy was a deal maker, a builder? If he put several billion into a construction project would he be so uninvolved? Well maybe he does this a lot and that’s why he’ll be bankrupt in 5 years. Either way, he’s playing with my money and yours - shouldn’t we demand a world class effort? Tired of amateur hour? Think Biden gets it based on comments and will probably be hands on to ensure we all get what we paid for - fast access to 300M vaccinations

yes how strict were they on breaks or grabbing a cigarette behind the store? Did anyone have a party? Someone (same poster?) posted an article about employees in some SoCal stores getting it but the sources were originally from outside the store at employees homes or parties they attended. In a typical retail store floor employees aren't near each other that much for long periods of time.

Come on Snowflake. You're a centrist and I'm Leo Messi. First, Trump is a true centrist. You don't bring blue dog democrats, police, firefighter, and workers unions, while expanding your ethnic minority and black American base without being a centrist. Second, Trump can care less about his political legacy. That's for politicians. Third, Trump's single most important achievement has nothing to do with this pandemic. By far his focus on China has been the most critical of his efforts and goes to show how out of touch politicians and the "experts" have been for decades to let that country's communist political party get close to becoming the world's superpower.

And yet the contact tracers came to the conclusion that the cost co was the source of the spread and not outside interactions by the employees.
Mask did not help them despite the company’s very strict policies.
They really should mask harder. Try 3 mask. 2 might not be enough.
