have you ever been in a hockey locker room or on the bench?- there is spit,puke and snot everywhere- there is no more disgusting place on earth
as far as contact- it may be quick but it is violent and sweat and spit fly everywhere between the players and onto the glass and boards. your equipment is soaked, your gloves are petri dishes of bodily fluids

and the benches are built for exactly 1 less player than is actually sitting there, never mind that the coaches are up your azz. there is no way to socially distance
