Places have hit immunity. Unless it is a small country like Sweden then it’s difficult to hit all at once. Spain & France both have regions that hit immunity in the spring and now the areas that did not have infections are getting it.
Kind of like the US. New England hit immunity from the spring. Now the sun belt is wrapping up immunity.
Not one location has had two significant outbreaks.

Finally wrapping it up and moving on, until the next one and the next one in this new normal. Maybe this one was just a vehicle for something else with a much greater damage potential, developed to demonstrate communicability.

As the CDC again confirmed this past week -- you can (and will) catch covid from particules in the air exhaled by an infected person.

My wife had socially distanced coffee this past week with 2 moms. One related the story of her son's college housemate's family. The grandparents had a family gathering over Labor Day at their cottage. The housemate did not attend having gone back to school and not wanting to risk any exposure in the unlikely event he was exposed. An aunt did attend. Apparently, the aunt knew that she had attended another event with someone who tested positive, but rather than not attend -- she came. Now, both grandma and grandpa are dead.
Another uncle just got off of 4 days of life support. Family relationships are obviously forever ruined. Do you want your kid to do that to your family? Bring home covid and kill off grandma? Forever ruin family ties -- Yeah, Betsy killed Grandma and her parents let her?

Lets for the moment assume you are not lying. Is your solution to make everyone stay home? Miss school? Don't work? I am sure you are comfortable going on your long walks around the neighborhood, working and getting paid from home, and complaining about how nobody cares about the greater good. Yet you donate nothing to all those you put out of work with your shutdown policy, the savings being burned, and the racist policy because blacks and browns are who you ask carry this burden. You practice "Safety Theater" on bs science and act like a Karen all the while destroying the lives of those more vulnerable. Stuff it.

Totally is BS ... but, rather than have 25 people miss that family reunion, why didnt grandpa and grandma just not come?!

Yes. The CDC issued a revised statement at the end of last week that said six feet is NOT enough. The droplets project further and are airborne longer and activities like talking, yelling, singing affect the time and space. The CDC later issued a statement that it was still in the process of revising its recommendations but the original six feet rule still stands. Obviously, if you are singing, yelling or otherwise projecting your voice you will be expelling droplets for a longer distance.

If you are breathing hard from running you will be doing the same.

It was at their cottage. It would be smart to not pretend this is not as easily disease. It is. It kills a thousand people a day in the US right now. Those people are getting it because someone Infected spread it to them. It is NOT just old people, but to state an obvious issue, 50% of all Americans over 50 have high blood pressure. High blood pressure is a big negative factor in assessing outcomes from a covid infection.

So - yes we all must do what we can to avoid exposing ourselves and every other person we come in contact with. The alternative is people get very sick and many die. Right now, more people are dying from covid in the US every 3 days than died during 9-11. Right now more US citizens have died from covid since February than died in every war and military action Of every type since the end of WWII. That’s combined. So add up all the dead from Korea, all the names on the wall at the Vietnam War Memorial, everyone in all the gulf war conflicts, and everywhere else - the covid casualties are far far greater. And, we are adding 1,000 more dead every day.

So what are we to do chicken little? Un employ everyone? Shut down the country? We all know the problem, we just need reasonable actions to minimize damages. And reasonable is not hiding in our basement for the next 2 years.

                              Sweden seems nice.
So nice in fact that Portugal has switched strategies to follow Sweden.

Just in the last 10 days cases are climbing back up again as predicted. We will see deaths climb past 1000 soon again after the usual lag from onset, positive test, hospitalizations for some and deaths for some of the acute patients.

                                Open your fuking eyes.
