Testing availability and accuracy has been a problem in the US since late January. We still can't get it right, but testing less (Trump's goal) does not not help. Too many people are asymptomatic or pre symptomatic. You need to keep track of those people as much as you do those with symptoms.
    False Negatives are highly unlikely
You should read up on how the test are designed
False Negatives are not acceptable and test are always designed to err in the false positive
Asymptomatic spread is a fallacy stoked by media

The rest of us should be tested if
      - we have symptoms (duh)
      - have knowingly been in close contact with an infected person

You shouldn't get tested out of curiosity, or you heard a cashier at your local Stop and Shop had it.

No need to make it political, or in your case, extremely biased.
Stop all testing except for people with symptoms.
      Very very simple
That is what the test is designed for.

Here. Read NY Times article on testing. As high as 90% of positives are false positives.

Your Coronavirus Test Is Positive. Maybe It Shouldn’t Be.
          https://nyti.ms/31DJixp

In Massachusetts, from 85 to 90 percent of people who tested positive in July with a cycle threshold of 40 would have been deemed negative if the threshold were 30 cycles, Dr. Mina said. “I would say that none of those people should be contact-traced, not one,” he said.

Other experts informed of these numbers were stunned.

“I’m really shocked that it could be that high — the proportion of people with high C.T. value results,” said Dr. Ashish Jha, director of the Harvard Global Health Institute. “Boy, does it really change the way we need to be thinking about testing.”

Read the article. The doctors are NOT saying the test is wrong in any way. Depending on the cycling used (not standardized) the test can find early infections before they become likely able to infect others. That is a good thing. It also finds infections that are more advanced, and that are waning. Yes -- it would be interesting, as suggested by one doctor, to test 6 hours later to see if and how the disease is progressing. But, considering it is difficult to get a single test right now we are not going to be testing infected people every 6 hours. to watch the progression of the disease. That is Not going to happen.

Testing in this country has been ab utter sheeetshow since the beginning. Other countries have this figure out. Maybe hiring incompetent, unqualified Trump azz kissers to vital scientific-based agencies wasn't such a good idea? Just a thought.

The only time this would be useful to detect early onset is if the patient were tested regularly like every day or two. The sports leagues or similar.
Otherwise it is useless for detecting early onset because you can’t test with frequency.
The other side of that is you pick up people who had it 8-12 weeks ago and never knew it. That provides no useful info and in fact makes matters worse as the state will try to contract trace. Another waste of resources.
The real world reality is a PCR test has a very low chance of catching a person who is contagious or about to be contagious. That is the problem. It is just chasing the wind.

Like king Ned struck his “private room deal” with testing companies his wife has ownership interest in?
How do you blame Trump for that?
Look at what is happening in your own back yard.
CT is as corrupt as ever. Trump did not do that.

Someone should send this to DPH and CIAC - and Lamont - along with a reminder soccer teams have been playing in CT all summer.

"SIX YOUTH SOCCER CLUBS IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY PARTICIPATED IN THIS STUDY INVOLVING 6,560 PLAYERS AND 263 COACHES.

The youth soccer clubs are located across the county from Oceanside to Chula Vista. Over the course of eight weeks, 143,000 soccer sessions were analyzed and only 15 (.01%) confirmed cases were recorded."

This study was in CA where case are much higher than here in CT - and most of the very few cases were tied back to siblings/family exposure, not soccer related

Isn't it much worse than NYT even says? They say 85-90% positive tests in MA at Ct=40 would not be positive at Ct=30. But paper CDC links to found no sample growth in Ct>24 & frequently none at <24. So even Ct of 30 is way too high & a lot more than 90% likely had no virus.

What happens when any person in a school or with a team is positive, 14 days down and blanket testing ?

Got the dashboard from my kids college

                            New cases - 0
                            Active cases - 0
                            Tests - 4656, positive rate 0%
                            Quarantine - 0

Note, these are the on campus tests, not the results of the ones they had to do before returning

Thank God her college didnt just follow what others are doing and actually thought things through and made sure the students and parents understood the expectations and the process. Happy that she only has one professor that was too afraid to teach live and has the class on line

Point is, there is a way to address the risks if people actually collaborate and follow instructions

My friends daughter at Alabama has the vid though. Hasn't told her parents. Admits she has been partying it up. sorority girl! Says most of her friends down there either have it or had it. They are up to over 1000 on campus already since they have been back
