Since CIAC and DPH recently agreed to move the start of the state’s fall high school athletic season to October, it looks like the timetable for game competition will move the first date of contests from Sept. 24 to Oct. 1. The last date of contests, instead of being Nov. 14 would be Nov. 21.

Its a freaking joke. Longarini just said in news conference that we are trying to get kids playing right away since we expect more issues later as schools ramp up .... yet they keep pushing back start of conditioning and just pushed back start of season by another week to Oct 1! On top of that, neither they nor DPH is clearly looking at what has happened in all sports since June 17th! All of these sports have been playing a lot, including indoor club volleyball and basketball with no uptick in cases. This season DEFINITELY will not be happening and they are counting on it and making sure of that. You idiots at CIAC and DPH are morons! You should have looked at what was going on for the first 4-6 weeks since June 17th and been basing decisions for Fall sports on those data rather than make up the rules based on excuses and false assumptions!!!

Club sports have been find. Oakwood. CFC. FSA have all been running programs since June with no issue. High schools are just trying to save $$$

Let me say it again .... if covid spikes up in schools enough to cancel hs athletics, there will be no youth sports as Ned and the DPH will simply not allow kids to cross-pollinate neighboring towns and schools by congregating at club events. DPH is simply stupid to have two sets of rules currently for schools vs private youth sports and they make little sense allowing kids to go to school but not play hs sports outside .... there is simply no way that time in classrooms isnt far more risky (and I still support them going back).

Colleges aren’’t playing. Some players are taking entire semesters off to preserve eligibility. Incoming Freshmen when this settles out will be facing a different environment.
The economic realities have yet to be revealed by schools.
