The CDC no longer recommends testing or quarantining of asymptomatic people based on contact tracing.

Closer to 200 cases, not 6-8. With it so close to schools trying to open that's an issue.
Many of the cases were linked to travel - so people are returning from vacations and not staying home as ordered by the governor. I agree a youth sports ban is stupid in terms of the risk with kids - but given how dumb some Danbury residents seem to be, do we think parents would wear masks and socially distance watching their kids? Seems unlikely.

Connecticut is requiring anyone traveling to the state from many other US states to self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival."

Danbury in July was averaging <10 cases a day nearly every day. In August there have already been 7 days well above 10 (weekends aren't recorded and the month isn't over yet).

They're not going in the right direction and cases <10 is considered a key criteria for schools. They want schools open so they're taking steps. This won't be the last time we see flareups.

OP here. You are correct it's from travel but community spread matters - the more of it, the less likely we have any sports. Those traveling non quarantining idiots spread it to their families, coworkers and kids, who then bring it to school (which is supposed to open soon).

Schools are too worried about school actually happening and sports isn't a priority for most of them. If we lived somewhere warmer we could delay the season much longer to see how the first few weeks of school goes, but playing in December isn't really an option.

Shocker kids aren't social distancing. They haven't been all summer. That's sounds all well and good when they're outside much of the time, plus still spending a decent amount of time at home. It changes meaning when we're trying to get them back in school - indoors - multiple hours a day with many more people.

Mayor of Danbury was pn CNN saying travel and "youth sports" are to blame for case numbers. Where is his proof of spread from youth sports? That won't help make the case for school sports, or possibly any
