Actually just about everything in your life, from where you can go, places you can eat, to what sports you can play and how you play them and who can watch them is currently controlled by political decisions. So no it doesn't belong in a little corner that people can ignore, its what most people should be talking about across a broad range of topics including soccer.

Back to the topic of soccer. Has HS soccer and other moderate sports been suspended?
According to the CIAC directive:
If all school districts in CT reach the “moderate” category, or a significant enough number of member schools fall into this category that maintaining game schedules are no longer possible, then the CIAC will restrict all interscholastic athletic experiences to conditioning and low risk non-contact sport specific skill work, in cohorts no greater than 10, and limited to the school’s campus.
Moderate category means: Between 10 to 25 cases per 100,000. The whole state is currently at 11 and trending up so there have be many school districts that fall in the moderate range.

US sees nearly 300,000 excess deaths amid pandemic so far, CDC study suggests
From CNN's Jacqueline Howard
The United States has seen nearly 300,000 excess deaths so far since late January – and the groups with the biggest jumps in excess deaths, percentage-wise, have been adults ages 25 to 44 and Hispanic people, according to a report published Tuesday by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The report included mortality data from Jan. 26 through Oct. 3, to help researchers measure how many more people died this year during the coronavirus pandemic than otherwise would have been expected.
"An estimated 299,028 more persons than expected have died since January 26, 2020; approximately two thirds of these deaths were attributed to COVID-19," CDC researchers wrote in the report.
"Although more excess deaths have occurred among older age groups, relative to past years, adults aged 25-44 years have experienced the largest average percentage increase in the number of deaths from all causes from late January through October 3," the researchers wrote. "Among racial and ethnic groups, the smallest average percentage increase in numbers of deaths compared with previous years occurred among White persons (11.9%) and the largest for Hispanic persons (53.6%)."
The report has some limitations, including that mortality data can lag, and estimates of how many deaths would otherwise be expected are based on models

"In determining the status of interscholastic athletic opportunities for the state or an individual school district, the CIAC will reference the State Department of Education’s Indicators for Consideration of Learning Models" This CT website has the criteria by district (county): https://data.ct.gov/stories/s/CT-Sch...ing/ddy2-ijgu/
According to their own criteria and directive, High Schools in Windom and New London counties should be in the moderate outbreak and they should only be conditioning with no games. Can anyone confirm?
Looks like Hartford county is next to cross the line into conditioning and no games.

"The learning model indicator metrics were originally calculated using a 7-day average. Starting on 10/15/2020, the metrics will be calculated using a 14-day average. We are learning more about COVID-19 all the time, including the best ways to measure COVID-19 activity in our communities. CT DPH made the decision to shift to 14-day rates because these are more stable, particularly at the town level, as compared to 7-day rates. In addition, since the school indicators were initially published by DPH last summer, CDC has recommended 14-day rates and other states (e.g., Massachusetts) have started to implement 14-day metrics for monitoring COVID transmission as well."
But Windom and New London still fall into the moderate category.
