HS Referees are really bad with Offside calls

In club soccer games, I honestly think the refs are pretty good at getting it right. Even though the idiot parents frequently complain.

However, I've watched a couple HS games and have seen 3 or 4 really bad offside calls. In each of them they called the player off when they were not. Like, not even close to being offside. Typical kick and chase plays where the player breaks past the defender after the ball is played. Tweeet and arm goes up. It went both ways too, so I'm not claiming any favoritism.

Is this pretty common cause it's a bit surprising?

Offside really is a lot more difficult to get right than people think. So that's why the sole responsibility for the AR is to look for offside (they have other tasks as well). But the center ref is responsible for all other calls.

In HS, they have dual-duty since they only have two refs. So it makes it difficult to analyze a play and at the same time keep track of who is offside.
Its ridiculous that HS wants to save money and not get a third ref and call the games the way it is called in the rest of the leagues.

So I wouldn't really blame the refs but the system that has them doing double the work calling the games.

We had 3 refs last night and they still did not call off sides well... (4 A District 11)
