Alonso has plenty of talent, probably the most in that conference, at least it looks that way on paper with all the signings that happened a couple weeks ago. I am not trying to take anything away from Alonso but this year 5A was much better than 6A in this area. 6A-7 was a very weak conference top to bottom and it shows in regional play. In Fact if you look back 4 years (that is when they were re-aligned) you will find only 1 team from this district made the final 4. That is not very good when you consider that 2 teams get to regionals and only have to win 3 games to make the final 4.

On paper Alonso was great. They had talent and depth. They had no leadership or direction from coaching staff.

Alonso had talent but they were not great. I do not know if the coach was good or bad but in defense of him the team did lack at some very key positions. They had a freshman goalkeeper playing at the end of the year and she was not the starter the first time we played them. I am not sure what happened to the other goalkeeper but it is very tough to win with a freshman in goal. The Alonso bench was very weak, when we played Alonso the coach rarely put in subs and when he did we noticed a sizable drop in play.

Freshman goalie started in all district games and was not the every day goalie. The every day goalie was not injured it was a coaching decision just as it was a coaching decision not to sub even when starters were walking or even asked to come out.

What other girls soccer team in Hillsborough County beside Alonso had three D1 signings and a fourth who turned down D1 offers to go in to the Service. In high school soccer you should not lose with that talent.

How about Newsome or in Pinellas County East Lake! I am sure there are more but all you are proving is that you are top heavy with seniors. Last time I checked there are Freshman, Soph and Juniors that also play a major role. Four players can not win you a championship and by the way Newsome and East Lake also lost. I am sure there are more Schools that have 3 committed but I just took a quick look at SoccerFLA.com and that is what was listed.Soccer is a team sport and you can not blame the coach for the team giving up 6 goals in one game.

soccer is a team sport and there was to much individual play on this team. It is the coach who has to get them to play as a team.

Yes soccer is a team sport and maybe this Coach is good or not good but the girls need to take some responsibility. Your bench is very weak and that will show next year when you lose your 3 D1 starters. Your goal keeper situation was not good all year not just in districts. Your team passed the ball better than most in the district but your intensity was low and you can not do that in High School. If you want to knock the coach then you should give him credit for the way you passed the ball, that is what the coach is responsible for and you did it well for a High School Team. The intensity is something that the girls either have or they don't and I don't believe that is something that the coach can fix. How would you like to play like Gaither, Sickles or Countyside they just kick the ball and run. Those kids are simply playing on athletic ability and Intensity there is no coaching there at all and Mitchell is not far behind with kickball either. The only teams that I saw in the district that actually tried to pass was St. Petersburg and Alonso, so I wouldn't be too hard on the coach. If you look at our team and compare position for position we probably had more talent at 7 or 8 postions of the 11 than Alonso and you beat us in districts and you beat us in districts. You really need to look at your team honestly, your outside mids rarely ran up and down the field, your keepers are small and weak and our bench is more talented than your bench. Your coach may be bad, I don't know but your team is not as good as you think. I am not saying they are bad but you are getting carried away because Mitchell has more talent and we are not that good. When we played a good team (George Jenkins) we barely controlled the ball in there end, this game was very one sided which is what happens when you play kickball like most of the teams in this district.

The Sickles coach is the worst coach in the conference. He claims to be a christian but does not practice what he preaches. He is not liked by the girls and he is usually at the center of the problem. When my daughter played for him the captains had to call a team meeting with him in attendance to tell him he needed to stop causing issues with the team. I have not seen him lately and I hope I never have to see him again but people like this do not change. So I say he is the worst coach in the conference and one of the worst in the state.

Not Jealous! what has he won? Never made it past the first round of regionals and his club team are recreational once they hit the HS age. Most parents are upset when people tell the truth about this idiot because it shows that their daughter is bacisly a recreational player. I am sorry but FC Tampa is a recreational club and as long as he is their it will not change.

You may be district champs but you got beat in the first game at regionals. You lost to a team that lost in the regional finals 8-0. You won a very weak district, congrats!
