Leading Goal Scorers in Florida

There are some very good player who play 2A and 3A. They play on the top level club teams in the state. They don't deserve bashing because they can afford to go to some of the best private schools.

They get bashed because people rave about how many goals they score. That is like raving on this site about how many goals a player gets playing rec.
I am sure there are some very good players but the competition is lacking.

The school size doesn't really matter when talking about stats. It's what kind of soccer your area has. There are some 5A schools in the state that heve blowout games too. The stats are dependant on the competition you choose or have in your district and the philosophy of the coach.

What he is stating is that there is no decent competition at the 2A or 3A level and any average player can score a bunch of goals. It sounds like a fair statement to me.

Except there are some very good 3A schools that have beaten the larger schools. Most of the time the smaller schools are worse. But not always, especially when you play 5A schools in the booneys. There are very few good 4A schools in the state and I don't think there are any good 2A. Maybe because 4A is usually public, but in an area where there is very little soccer, and there are some 3A private schools in areas that are soccer powerhouses. There are also some 5A schools in places where the soccer sucks. South florida and Tampabay have some very good 3A schools. So, like the above poster said, it has more to do with what level of soccer there is in your area, not the size of the school.

this is so true. there are some very good ball players on the 2A and 3A teams. that do play on some top Club teams.
there are alot of rec. players that start over club players on these high school teams. it is amazing to see the ignorance of some of these high school coaches

I play club soccer, and of course thats where the most talent is because its club soccer, but you have to remember there are rec players who are just as good if not better as club players. There were some awful players on my club team. Some of these players i wouldn't have been surprised if they would have sat the bench on a rec team. Just remember that, just because your son or daughter plays club soccer doesn't mean they're owed anything by the coach.

Wow, you all need to take a chill out. I simply posted this topic to get some ideas of leading scorers in high school soccer. It was not a proposition for all of you to start bickering and talking smack like you are 7 years old. You are looking into it way too much.

tampa preps leading scorer had 39 goals last year and their coach took him out before the game was 4-0... he was also the leading scorer for the kickers last year and they won state cup... so i disagree that 2a schools have no talent...

all classes have talent, most kids don't really choose where they go to school, they just play where they're at. There are good players on alot of awful teams.

The fact remains that state scoring stats are meaningless. If everyone played the same schools it would mean something, but with the difference in the quality of soccer around the state, and the differing philosophy of HS coaches, high scoring statewide says nothing. The high scorer on a top team means much more and that player's stats could not be in the top 20 statewide. Those teams usually come fron an area with tougher soccer and look for tougher out of district competition and therefor have lower scoring games. They also usually have smarter coaches that don't let the same players score all the goals and try to develop the team in high scoring games.

What, I think he was trying to say is that if he played on a team that had tough competition in it's district, with lot's of one goal games, he would not have had 39 goals. No one is saying he isn't a good player. But, put that same player on a team with tough competition and you won't see that many goals.
