A "capacity crowd" of 2300? LMAO! Ranked #1 and they draw a measly 2300?

Each restroom in Doak Campbell Stadium holds more than 2300.

Half of the 2300 is the FSU roster and all their SoccerDaddies and SoccerMommies plus all the Title IX athletes from other FSU sports teams.

I can't stand FSU, but I amazed at all the jack arses on this board. Being number 1 is a great thing regardless if it is women's soccer. I bet you anything that half the people making fun of women's soccer are a bunch of fat lazy slobs. You are the same kooks who are telling your kids how to play soccer and you couldn't run a mile in under 7 minutes or do a single pull up if your life depended on it, plus you never played soccer for crap. Yeah, jerks I am the dad that is ripped and in great shape, just standing quitely watching the game, while you are acting insane. BTW, I catch your wife checking me out ;)

Which is about 2290 more than ever attended one of your games.

                        42000 undergraduate + graduate students/FSU + 189000 population/Tallahassee = 231000

                        2300/231000 = 1%

"#1" vs "#2" in the country draws 1%?

Speaks volumes about the interest in and support for women's collegiate soccer.

As sad as you make it sound the stats are better then averages for the rest of the country. Attracting 1% of the local population to a major game is very good. The greater the population the lower the percentage of those who watch a college game in nearly every sport except football. Womens soccer has slowly but surely gained momentum and is one of the fastest growong sports in the nation. Mens soccer is only slightly ahead of womens in terms of participation. Both have different styles of play. The men are based upon brute force and run and gun whereas womens soccer is more based upon control and possesion. On a world wide basis its obvious the womens are doing much better and will continue to do so.

                            You can't be serious.

Growth in American women's collegiate soccer can be attributed directly to Title IX, nothing less, nothing more. Growth in soccer in general in the USA pertains to youth participation only, which has not been sustained beyond college.

Across the USA, spectator attendance at collegiate soccer is abysmal, i.e., % increases are in and of themselves meaningless: for example, growth in average match attendance from 350 to 700 is a 100% increase, but 700 still sucks.

Women's professional soccer in the USA has folded for the umpteenth time.

                            Case closed.

P.S. The vast majority of women's high school and collegiate soccer continues to be long ball style. "Control"? "Possession"? Now, that's hysterical.

P.S.S. Female soccer in the USA is being eroded by volleyball and lacrosse.

Soccer in general in the US is picking up. It is likely that MLS will lend support to Womens soccer until bigger sponsors enter the womens side. The womens national team has had much better results then the men and both men and women are playing against pros from all over the world. Many of the women collegiate soccer players go on to play outside the US . Title IX has made a difference but not nearly as much as you would seem to indicate. Yes Lacrosse and Volleyball have made inroads in the overall growth of womens collegiate soccer yet womens collegiate soccer continues to grow. As far as the possesion style or control style the best collegiate womens teams are now playing control and possession. style soccer
