Yes - in mice so they're not sure to what extent it impacts developed human brains yet. The impact on developing brains is obvious (feel horrible for those poor babies and their families). But some victims also get Guillain Barre which is nasty business. What if it mutated and starting causing it more often? Problem is, like others have said, it's pretty tough to stop it from traveling/spreading either via humans or mosquitos. For now prevention from bites is about all we've got.

You mean the human? It isn't contagious like the flu (coughing, sneezing) but it has spread through sexual contact. Blood transfusions are an issue as well. Mosquitos can carry it if they bit an infected person - they can infect the next person they bite

Zika is going to make it harder on the players and fans who spend much time outdoors. The images of babies brains are alarming, filled with fluid and missing the parts needed for things like cognition, eyesight, and body movement. The brains are often flat or sinking in if don't have the smaller heads. Babies born looking normal can show brain scar tissue from the Zika and don't know what the long term effects will be. The long term effects on adult brains is not known.
