it's not that simple. kid that misses u15 DA has to probably wait until u17 for next shot. next year, reserves. say they make u17. great. by then kids are in 11th grade. everything is different. SAT more important that soccer. much more. the train only makes limited stops my friend. system is not set up for late bloomers.

Sadly, the kids themselves are part of the lower intensity. They seem to slowly lose their dreams to advance to DA by the time they reach u15. I say sadly because in some cases it is just a lack of opportunity, lack of connections, or slower physical development, and not a lack of talent. While maybe your journey at that club may be coming to an end, if your kid loves soccer, it should not be the end of his journey. u15 is still really young.
By that age, and particularly in DA, personal drive and hard work starts to matter more than just skill. Lots of kids are highly skilled, but if they don't work at it they can be surpassed quickly. Also at that age, more so with boys, they are still going through enormous physical changes. Puberty isn't always kind to some kids with the US focus on size and athleticism.

As for clubs? Yeah most of them suck when it comes to being honest with families and how good or bad their kid is. There isn't enough talent to go around and clubs need to fill rosters18+ to be profitable. Many don't have good coaching either. Best advice is do your research carefully (ask around locally who has good coaching, is a well run club), ask to attend some practices at local clubs and see if it's a good fit for your player.

As for getting cut? That sucks too. Been there with one of mine. How you as a parent react matters. Don't be bitter. Encourage him not to get down on himself. Not everyone can play at the highest levels and that's ok. Maybe he needs to work on some skills so help him figure that out. Maybe he needs to work on attitude. If you find a good fit you'll see his enthusiasm ramp right back up. If he works really hard he could possible earn his way back in. Ultimately they have to want it and work for it, it's their path

Also. Let's be real. DA/ECNL for Boys is a chance to be seeing by D1 College. Pro-teams would have snatched your kid a long time ago if he was really good. D1 college, recruits heavily from overseas as they are more talented and HS grades are easy to forge. Reality is your kid will maybe be offer half scholarship to play in a small unknown college.

I guess the question is what it should be: What does your kid want? People on here act like if they can’t wear a hoodie from an easily recognized college, their kid has failed...pathetic. Maybe your kid just wants to play. If that’s at a smaller school they like AND it’s free for you, you’re an ass if you see that as settling.
