With that said, as more and more teams see Scituate play, ignorant comments such as these just clog up the board. MH has a keeper who has always been decent in my eyes, but she was clearly outshined. The more a hater like you keeps taking cheap shots at another team, the more people will actually take notice of their talents. At that point you will be left to look even more ignorant as you create a whole legion of "goalie moms" that root for the kid!!!!! as shown below...

MH: 17 shots with all but 1 saved by that terrible overrated kid

Scituate: 15 shots with 5 getting by a good keeper
Guess the Bayview GK is in the same league as Scituate GK... she saved 15 shots against MH just a few days ago.

Truth is MH lost their all state striker and their best defenders. Now they are scoring less, and allowing a heckuva lot more shots on goal. As a MH parent said a few pages back, they’ll be lucky to be top 5 for the next few years.

Did these players get injured? We haven't played MH yet but we lost to Scituate and they do seem good enough to take seriously at all positions.

        No they graduated.

Is anybody going to give a challenge to Pilgrim in D2?

Nice to see EP and Johnston, after sandbagging for years, playing with comparable opponents, where even with much of the same roster they are barely middle of the pack.

Yeah think it’s safe to say that Pilgrim should have stayed with D1 (especially with all this strong freshmen coming in), and Tollgate def belongs in D2 (if not D3) this season.

Westerly, Chariho, Wheeler and Middletown are strong as well....none of the others appear to be able to offer a consistent threat

At least every squad has at least won a game, since no team should suffer through a winless year....question now is which of the bottom teams will be able to notch another, or play spoiler to other teams?

True, but a larger pool means that you aren't as subject to variations in the player talent cohorts (for example EWG or EG). *But* combine larger population with relatively higher household income (more disposable income for parents to spend on club sports) and you get the ability (although coaching matters a bit, but more on the ability to lift the smaller programs) to stay in the D1 upper half.

Combine larger population with the ability to draw across 39 towns and another state's populations with relatively higher household incomes, offer scholarships to the better players, have perpetual influence in RIIL *and* have the history of being at least a lock to make the state finals every year..and you get LaSalle soccer..

Take away a once in a decade player who opted to stay in her local school for at least two of her four years and you essentially have the newer version of MSC hockey from the late 70s to 2000 (although LSA soccer is still close to that)

The speed and physicality on the boys side makes a bit of difference, but over the past two decades, 3 teams (LSA, Barrington, and NK) have won 18 of the 20 titles..same basic point (although Barrington is smaller the wealth factor and not surprisingly the decline in football corresponds to the resurgence in soccer there).

It is undoubtedly a socio-economic factor....this is an underlying theme in the perverse US soccer-pay-to-play system

this is why the men's overall program is a disgrace compared to other countries. us women have seen the gap narrow dramatically as many other countries have finally started to pay attention to their women as athletes

In the last decade soccer in this country has made strive. However, we are still a decade behind the top soccer countries. Our reliance on the English way has been a detriment to development. This is why high school soccer is what it is today. Almost high school soccer still play a traditional English setup 4-4-2. Boot and run. Nothing wrong with that formation if you have the right players but most coaches don’t know the game so they just do what everyone else does.

Best competition we’ve seen in awhile. Great D. Barrington is likely to be top 3 this season.

Good team. And they have two Allstate caliber kids playing DA instead of high school.
