Shelton are the best team in the SCC. Cheshire, like Hand, Guilford and Mercy are all pretty average. Amity has done well for a school that has no tradition of soccer. As I said before. Shelton will make a run, the others will not. Would not be surprised if all 4 teams got knocked out of states in first round.

Where do Shelton kids play club soccer? Any going on to continue playing soccer?

Time to move on. Game went to OT which meant it could go either way. Good teams find a way to put these games away. Shelton took advantage of a mistake in the defensive third and it lead to a goal. That’s why one team is ranked highly in the State and the other is not.

Based on the game rosters Cheshire played multiple Freshman and Sophomores. I was impressed by that.

Soccer is a small world. I recognized about five or maybe six npl girls names on their roster. Mostly Yankee. Rest must be town premier. I guess a good mix of both. Certainly no Messi or any standouts from what I saw but all strong players who seem to work well together. Both times I have seen them play they struggled a bit first half and then second half came out strong. Not sure how they will perform against a couple of the fciac teams that are loaded with ecnl girls.

They have a couple of SCP girls.

Not with the program, but to say that Amity has no soccer tradition reflects you don't know much about their girls soccer program. Was in the doldrums till Quigley showed up in the 1990s, back in the old Houstatonic League (Shelton, Cheshire, Sheehan, Lyman Hall, North Haven were also all in that league). They became a dominant program shortly after and along with Cheshire and Guilford, pretty much ran the girls soccer situation in the early days of the SCC. They are a fine program and win year in and year out.

SCC is still pretty solid. Shelton, Amity, Cheshire, Hand and Guilford are generally consistent every year. It’s also fun that schools like Lauralton or Mercy can emerge as contender when they have a few very good players. Certainly not FCIAC but more balance than CCC.

They should figure out the schedules a bit better. Many schools never play and that leads to inflated records and costs some teams post season berths.

You are sorely mistaken if you judge teams by ECNL or NPL make-up only. There are many great players that choose not to drink the kool-aid of the elitists and stay with smaller clubs. And you definitely dont give enough credit to the top coaches that use better tactics and abilities to get more out of their teams.

You made 1 very good point and 1 dumb comment. Not enough credit is given to the great high high school coaches that know how to coach and get the most out of their teams. Coaches make a difference.

However, the top high school girl players in this state are playing mostly in the ECNL. There are a few outliers that do not play in the top club league, but for the most part the best 14-18yr old girl soccer players are in the ECNL. Those 7 months training with the best and competing against the best are what makes these girls the best players. Speed of play, physicality on the ball and soccer iq get developed and refined between November and June

Do you realize there are athletic soccer players out there who can't afford to pay $5 grand to play for an ECNL team? Please keep it in perspective that there are top soccer players who are not playing ECNL due to the fact that their family can't afford it. Or do you believe that only offspring of the wealthy are top players? I wonder how many college coaches don't recruit kids because they are too lazy to recruit in the fall.

Yup. Have you seen the lumbering girth of those cfc united teams? Not a ton of athleticism

Trust this is a sarcastic comment.

Have you seen what the players on the 2001 and 2002 teams at CFC look like?

All skilled and very quick. D1 schools at any level don’t recruit slow lumbering kids.

If you think your princess can keep up stop by in November.
