That’s not bad at all. With top clubs leaving GDA thorns might not have as many losses as in the past. Hopefully cost doesn’t go up.

What if the only 'real fit' is playing just in High School JV2/JV/V?

The cost ranges from $150 to $250 for the 2 month playing season.
It's purely recreational fun and quite social.

The US Soccer DA with pro Thorns is aimed at the top .01% of Oregon & SW Washington 6000 HS participants. Not an option.

Oregon & SW Washington 'club' soccer can be 10x to 40x more expensive than HS ball for it's 8 to 9 mos season. Club training is typically on 2x a week with 10 to 20 games + some crammed in games at tourneys/showcases. The exaggerated costs coupled with travel clubs makes this level 'club' not an option.

The best fit for nearly every girl would be year round High School Soccer.

The very elite girls in Oregon chose to play high school so that is probably why the thorns haven’t had the best success. The top .01% don’t have to give up anything.

Some girls see thorns as a chance to get playing time so it’s a positive place for them.

Find the place that best fits you.

The ban on high school sports really hurts the GDA. Across the country the top clubs are leaving GDA for ECNL to accommodate kid and parents demands for high school.

You support year round HS level soccer for Oregon girls which is prudent and wise.

Oregon High school girls soccer provides the foundation and has become the Beacon of girls Athletics in Oregon.

You make no case for playing anything outside of high high school, as it's the best stuff ever.

It's great you have made your choice. Well done.

Hopefully your commitment to high school soccer and your belief in it will allow you to sway others to just strictly play high school, all the best.

Too much travel for mediocre games. No good tournaments or cups.

Another reason for High School Soccer year round!

the first year the thorns were in gda league they allowed the jesuit girls to do both and the thorns had a good team. They stopped allowing high school and struggled.

Yet another fan of a HS soccer. Makes sense its best to have recreational fun year round. HS rocks!

Those girls said no way to skipping high school. They missed out on two months of hard manual training and boring DA games thus are better soccer players now off at D1 schools.

Another testimonial to the value of year round HS recreational Soccer!

With no dissent so far, things are trending towards the year round HS recreational soccer initiative for girls.

For all the right reasons presented!

I doubt that girls that played high school and Thorns in the offseason are at D1 schools.

You’d be surprised how many D1 commits come out of every club that they don’t get any money or #18-24 on the bench. Sometimes playing at specific clubs you get used to a half experience

Since the DA for girls began in 2017-18 the top D1 freshman girls across the nation this fall (2018) did not play recreational HS as seniors, since they were part of US Soccer DA (2017-18) platform. As noted in their D1 college biographies online and their all conference awards mentions.

Very few girls from Oregon make any impact at any of the 350 D1 schools, but many do fill out the rosters since most teams carry 26-28 players.
