Nigeria's president has suspended his nation's football team from international competition for two years after a poor showing at the World Cup.

Special presidential adviser Ima Niboro told reporters the decision by Goodluck Jonathan will "enable Nigeria to reorganize its football."

He said: "This directive became necessary following Nigeria's poor performance in the ongoing World Cup."

How do you think the North Koreans feel? Those players would gladly take a 2 year suspension. After their performance in this WC they will probably be manning a weather station in some remote corner of the planet never to be seen or heard from again.

Did not mantion not playing soccer, simply not going to keep sending out players and wasting time and money!! Re group, train, send players into other leagues and reevaluate who you are sending into National pools. Maybe they can make better choices and then rejoin the National Comp, untill then why waste time and money. Just for the sake of getting your national jersey on TV ??
US does this and they have gotten no where. Why keep sending out the retreads that have proved over and over that they can not handle this level of play?? Do we just keep spending $$ on these kids till they get it right?? What point to we revamp system and give younger players opportunity??

Corruption In the Nigerian Federation

What they failed to mention is that the real reason he is banning the National team from competition is that they had so much corruption within the federation that he had no choice but to re-organize it all.
